Welcome to my guide of the FFXIV Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log. We’ll look at its purpose, how it fits into your ranking and, most importantly, how to clear it easily!
The Order of the Twin Adder in FFXIV is one of Eorzea’s original three Grand Companies. After you defeat Ifrit as part of the MSQ, you are invited to join one of them and you must choose one to continue. You can engage with as much or as little of the Grand Company activities as you like. However, one of those is a specific hunting log for that GC.
Where is the Twin Adder Hunting Log?
Once you have joined the GC (during the quest The Company You Keep), a new icon will appear on your regular hunting log. Click/Select this to see the targets specific to the Order of the Twin Adder:
Quick Skip
If you know the basics of the FFXIV Hunting Logs already then you can skip to Rank 1, Rank 2 or Rank 3.
Ranks that Depend on your GC Log
Being promoted within the Twin Adder – as with all of the Grand Companies – involves a combination of activities. These may be quests, turning in a certain number of GC seals and clearing their hunting log ranks. To reach the following ranks you will be required to complete ranks of your GC hunting log:
I had thought you needed Rank 3 for Serpent Captain, but it seems that is not required. It’s been a while since I became Captain on all three of my main characters.
For more information on Grand Company Ranks, see Prima Gaming’s blog.
Rewards for Clearing Hunt Targets
Instead of EXP and
, the Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log awards
Serpent Seals. These can be used to exchange for a variety of goods in Gridania, but if you are intent on promotion, you will need to keep some in reserve for ranking up.
With all that covered, let’s finally look at the Hunting Log in detail.
Not Yet Searchable
Before we crack on, I just wanted to say that I have now started to give these enemies their own pages, as I have with my general FFXIV Hunting Logs.
For a time, this log will be a mixture of those that do, and those that don’t. Thank you for your patience!
Order of the Twin Adder Rank 1
Amalj’aa Javelinier
Number Required: 3
The Amalj’aa Javelinier is found within the not-so-subtly-named “Amalj’aa Encampment” in Eastern Thanalan. If you haven’t cleared this entry but are still doing the early MSQ, then your travels with Thancred bring you here anyway.
They are not directly involved with the relevant quest, but if another player did theirs just before you, then you may need to wait for respawn.
If you’ve switched Grand Company, then you’ll need a purposeful trip, sorry!

Eastern Thanalan: Drybone

Eastern Thanalan: Camp Drybone
Sylvan Scream
Number Required: 3
The Sylvan Scream is one of a few variety of touched Sylphs to feature in The Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log. The log information itself is only vaguely-accurate too.
Technically, they are located in the Bramble Patch, but in reality, they’re in the passage between it and Larkscall. Also, all the touched Sylphs look the same except for their weapons (for those that carry them). Look for the little symbol over their heads to clear the correct ones!
Region/Area
East Shroud: The Bramble Patch
Nearest Aetheryte
East Shroud: The Hawthorn Hut
Kobold Pickman
Number Required: 3
The Kobold Pickman variety of Kobolds is one of a few scavenging around the skeleton at Thalaos in Upper La Noscea. I found four of them, but you only need three.
Despite their name, they are not holding picks, but axes. But don’t take time to question why they’re mining or digging with an axe! Just appease your Grand Company and take some out for the safety of Eorzea.
Region/Area
Upper La Noscea: Oakwood
Nearest Aetheryte
Upper La Noscea: Camp Bronze Lake, orWestern La Noscea Aleport
Amalj’aa Bruiser
Number Required: 3
Just South-East of Little Ala Mhigo, you’ll find a group of Amalj’aa of various types loitering around. The Amalj’aa Bruiser is a Pugilist, but unless you’re well over-levelled, then others will join in the fighting.
No one’s ever complained about taking out too many of them though, have they? Well, except maybe the Amalj’aa themselves! The Twin Adder and Maelstrom certainly won’t!
Bruisers and Rangers
Incidentally, I spotted Amalj’aa Rangers mixed in with the Amalj’aa Bruisers on today’s GC Hunting log run. So you may not need a trip to Southern Thanalan.
Region/Area
Southern Thanalan: Broken Water
Nearest Aetheryte
Southern Thanalan: Little Ala Mhigo
Ixali Deftalon
Number Required: 3
The Ixal are the bane of Gridanians and the Wood Wailers. So, it’s the perfect entry for your Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log!
In an unassuming corner of the North Shroud, you’ll find a gaggle of Ixal, including your Ixali Deftalon. They’re the gladiators of the Ixal – if they held such ranks, which they don’t!
Where are They?
Officially, they’re in Alder Springs. But it’s off the “beaten track”. Head West from Treespeak and as soon as you’ve moved into Alder Springs turn South.
Region/Area
North Shroud: Alder Springs
Nearest Aetheryte
North Shroud: Fallgourd Float
Amalj’aa Ranger
Number Required: 3
The Amalj’aa Ranger is an archer and can be found in the Wellwick Wood area of Eastern Thanalan. Once you cross Highbridge, keep going almost directly East and you’ll come across them. There is often a FATE in this area too.
Naturally, there are other Amalj’aa around too, so be aware of this if you’re on-level or thereabouts.
Amalj’aa Rangers and Bruisers
If you have not yet gone to Southern Thanalan for Amalj’aa Bruisers then don’t! Bruisers are mixed in with the Rangers in Wellwick Wood. So save yourself the trip!

Ixali Fearcaller
Number Required: 1
For ever other target for the Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log Rank 1 you need three targets. However, you require only one Ixali Fearcaller, which is great as there is a spot with just one of these present.
That said, if you’re newly-arrived in Coerthas, then ConsoleGamesWiki has an alternative location. This is just East of the Observatorium around X:31, Y:28.
Addtionally, you can find them in FATEs.

Coerthas Central Highlands: Dragonhead
Nearest Aetheryte
Coerthas Central Highlands: Camp Dragonhead, or North Shroud: Fallgourd Float
Rank 1 Dungeon Targets
For Rank 1 of the Order of the Twin Adder Grand Company Hunting Log, you need to take on Halatali. This is not a core MSQ dungeon, so you will need to unlock it, if you have not done so already. Although you need five of each enemy, you do not need to count – clear the dungeon and you’ll have earned extra
Serpent Seals in the process!
Rank 1 Reward
Order of the Twin Adder Rank 2
Amalj’aa Sniper
Number Required: 3
It’s time to take out even more Amalj’aa. It’s starting to feel like this should be an Immortal Flames log, but it’s for the Twin Adder!
The Amalj’aa Sniper is found in the Sagolii Desert, so you have a bit of travelling to do.

Region/Area
Southern Thanalan: Sagolii Desert
Nearest Aetheryte
Southern Thanalan: Forgotten Springs
Kobold Missionary
Number Required: 3
Kobold Missionary…an interesting title, I have to admit. Do they try to convert you to Koboldism, or just searching for weaklings to get them tempered by Titan?
In either case, it’s logical to eliminate the threat (until they come back one minute later!). In Eastern La Noscea, there is a small camp of Kobolds. As far as I can tell, there are only three at any one time. You may need to wait for them to respawn if you arrive shortly after someone else.
Region/Area
Eastern La Noscea: Bloodshore
Nearest Aetheryte
Eastern La Noscea: Costa del Sol
Kobold Sidesman
Number Required: 3
Having to target the Kobold Sidesman along with so many other Kobolds is a reminder that the Grand Companies need to work together. They are not just a threat to the Maelstrom. This is why they feature on the Twin Adder Hunting Log and even that of the Immortal Flames.
These ones can be found in Zelma’s Run in Upper La Noscea. Two of the Sidesmen are on the… sides, keeping watch. One other is patrolling around.
Region/Area
Upper La Noscea: Zelma’s Run
Nearest Aetheryte
Upper La Noscea: Camp Bronze Lake
Kobold Roundsman
Number Required: 3
If you weren’t sick of hunting Kobolds for ticks on your log already, you might be now! The bright yellow area of Iron Lake is full of them, scrabbling around for worthwhile ore scraps. Not the worthless ore of the Tribal Quest variety!
The Kobold Roundsman is just one of the types here and, if you’re vaguely on-level, you’ll have to fight your way to them.
That said, there are loads of Roundsmen! So, even if other players are hunting or questing here, you’re not short of choices. Don’t fight other players when you should be fighting Kobolds, hmm?
Region/Area
Outer La Noscea: Iron Lake
Nearest Aetheryte
Outer La Noscea: Camp Overlook
Sylvan Snarl
Number Required: 3
Head into Larkscall in the East Shroud to find your Sylvan Snarl. I only found one location with two Snarls together – the other one is some distance away. But see my minimap for the pinpoints.
Dealing with touched Sylphs is more appropriate for an Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log entry. In Rank 1 we had a Sylvan Scream. Rank 3 has a Sylpheed Snarl.
Region/Area
East Shroud: Larkscall
Nearest Aetheryte
East Shroud: The Hawthorn Hut
Shelfclaw Sahagin
Number Required: 3
You will find the Shelfclaw Sahagin beyond the Tidegates of Western La Noscea. More can be found quicker by taking the South Tidegate, however. Stop the “fishbacks” before they breach the walls that were put there to hold them back!
This may be a busy area for other players. The MSQ, Tribal Quests and the Hunt, plus numerous FATEs occur here. But there are more than the required number for the Twin Adder Hunting Log.
Involved in Quest
The L48 Quest, Culling the Hoard sees you taking on these Sahagin. Whether that’s useful to you will depend on whether you’re on Rank 2 of your Twin Adder Log or not, by the time you hit that quest!
Region/Area
Western La Noscea: Halfstone
Nearest Aetheryte
Western La Noscea: Aleport
Amalj’aa Lancer
Number Required: 3
Amalj’aa Lancers need no decoding! Once you head to Southern Thanalan, you’ll find most of these atop small outcrops.
Just be aware that in Zanr’ak and Zahar’ak, the titles of the Amalj’aa change very frequently depending on the part you’re in. Just because a Lizardman holds a lance does not mean his title is “Lancer”.
Involved in FATEs
I won’t list them all (there are six!) but Amalj’aa Lancers feature in:
Region/Area
Southern Thanalan: Zanr’ak
Nearest Aetheryte
Southern Thanalan: Little Ala Mhigo
Needing the U’ghamaro Roundsman makes you take your first steps into the U’ghamaro Mines. At least for the Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log anyway!
The Roundsmen hold daggers, and stationary ones can often be seen throwing their weapon in the air and catching it again. Show-offs.
The mines can be a pain to navigate, which is why I wanted to help out with my maps. I’ve not specified coordinates on this entry, because I think the dots will be quicker for you to follow!

Outer La Noscea: U’ghamaro Mines

Level 2 Dungeon Targets
This time around, you will need to unlock and run the Sunken Temple of Qarn dungeon.
The Temple Guardian is the second boss of the dungeon and is enormous, so you really can’t miss it, and it’s unavoidable!
Remember to target the soulstone first. Then, while the Guardian is knocked down, get as much damage in as you can. You’ll almost certainly have to target the soulstone twice, just so you know.
Rank 2 Reward
Order of the Twin Adder Rank 3
The main thing to say about the Ixali Windtalon is that sometimes there are “normal” mobs and sometimes there are FATE ones.
The FATE Air Supply is often on. I think this is due to it being a requirement of the ARR Relic Weapon questline. Both whether in or out of FATE, all the Windtalons count.
Region/Area
North Shroud: Proud Creek
Nearest Aetheryte
North Shroud: Fallgourd Float
Coordinates
Start at X:20.1, Y:20.1 and head North-West for more.
You’ve already had a Sylvan Snarl, so now it’s time for a Sylpheed Snarl. These touched ones are in the Sylphlands and there are plenty to look for.
As the Sylphlands is involved in the MSQ and Tribal Quests, as well as the Hunt, expect to see other players here. I’d say head for Moonspore Grove or Goldleaf Dais, which are a bit more out-of-the-way.

I hope you’re ready for another trip to the Mines, because the U’ghamaro Quarryman is up next! As with the U’ghamaro Roundsman, I’m not putting specific coordinates.
If you stick to the western part of the mines, you’ll find them. See the specific dots on my minimap.

Outer La Noscea: U’ghamaro Mines

Outer La Noscea: Camp Overlook
Your fight against the Sahagin takes you deeper in than in Rank 2. The Sapsa Shelftooth is a conjurer-style Sahagin found within the Sapsa Spawning Grounds.
But they are spread far apart, from what I can see. If you have flight, start from the Southernmost Shelftooth at X:15.1, Y:15.4 and gradually work North. If you do not, your first one is at X:15.5, Y:14.2 and you can work westward.
Region/Area
Western La Noscea: Sapsa Spawning Grounds
Nearest Aetheryte
Western La Noscea: Aleport
Coordinates
Around X:15.1, Y:15.4 and X:15.5, Y:14.2. Make sure to take the one at the Reaver Hide to the North.
In case it was not painfully obvious, the Zahar’ak Pugilist is a pugilist…in Zahar’ak! I can hear your gasp of astonishment from here. Or it’s just the voices. Ignore me.
You only require three of them, but they are spread throughout this Amalj’aa stronghold. As with other primal-centric zones, other players may well be questing here at the same time as you.
So don’t fight other players for your Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log entries. There is always more hunting to be done elsewhere!
Involved in FATE
Region/Area
Southern Thanalan: Zahar’ak
Nearest Aetheryte
Southern Thanalan: Little Ala Mhigo
Coordinates
I found the first Zahar’ak Pugilist around X:23.8, Y:21.6. From there, head East. Because that’s your only route from that point!
And you’re back to Hunting Ixal for your Grand Company! This time, you really show your commitment by taking the battle to the birdmen in Coerthas. Your Natalan Swiftbeak is a lance-fighter, and is found in their stronghold of…wait for it…Natalan.
Actually, you may find one just outside the entrance too. Follow my dots and you’ll get along okay.
Note: nearly all your landscape Twin Adder Hunting Log targets have required three. The Natalan Swiftbeak requires four and the Natalan Boldwing needs five.

Region/Area
Coerthas Central Highlands: Natalan
Nearest Aetheryte
Coerthas Central Highlands: Camp Dragonhead
Coordinates:
After the entrance to Natalan, two can be found around X:34.4, Y:22.2
And finally you can finish your Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log by hunting five of the Natalan Boldwing Ixals. As with the Natalan Swiftbeak, they are found in their stronghold in Coerthas.
I decided not to give specific coordinates for these, mostly because they are not hard to find! As you can see from the Natalan Boldwing Map, they are everywhere.

Rank 3 Dungeon Targets
For Rank 3 of the Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log, the dungeon you need to unlock is The Wanderer’s Palace. If my memory is vaguely working, then you should clear all these entries by the time you’ve defeated the first boss.
Tonberry
Where: these spawn almost straight away in The Wanderer’s Palace. There are plenty more further in.
Number Required: 7
Bronze Beetle
Where: at the top of the first small steps inside The Wanderer’s Palace 6 Bronze Beetles spawn as you approach.
Number Required: 6
Rank 3 Reward
TL;DR Easily Clear Grand Company Hunting Log for the Order of the Twin Adder!
And, if you’ve made it this far – congratulations! The Twin Adder should be grateful for your efforts, so grateful that they want you to spend some of your Serpent Seals to buy your promotion. Now isn’t that delightful?
This Order of the Twin Adder Hunting Log Guide covered all the Ranks in one, so I hope it was helpful for you. I am planning to add the individual enemies to my database over the coming weeks.
Lastly, this is my first Grand Company Hunting Log guide. I will be adding the Maelstrom and Flames ones in the next couple of weeks. See you soon in Final Fantasy XIV, folks.
