This LOTRO Evendim Slayer Deed Guide and Map is the first one of the original regions I’ve done in a very long time. And I’m glad I did. Having been pretty ill for the last week or so, I’ve been able to still progress this guide because roaming LOTRO is simply relaxing.
Evendim Slayer is a tricksy one, though. I’ll cover each type of enemy, where they can be found and how many you need. And, of course, how you’re rewarded for all those things you make dead! Whoop.
Using the Maps and Maplets
For each enemy, I’ve marked areas and/or specific locations they can be found on a maplet. In a couple of cases, I’ve given you extra “dots” where I felt that would help you find them more easily.
- Small dots → 1 or 2 mobs
- Large dots → a few in one place
- Stars → higher concentration
Also note that, where an enemy is in Annúminas, there is also a separate map for that.
At the end, there is a region-wide Evendim Slayer Deed Map for you to use. I’ve removed most “dots” from that one, so the rest is clearer.
While starred areas contain more slayer deed targets, they also attract more players and may well also have a fair few quests. Mix/match locations so you don’t accidentally get trampled on, or trample on others’ adventures.

Deed Targets
Angmarim Slayer Deed
Well, this deed also has another name:
Invaders from Angmar
Inside Annúminas
By far, the most Angmarim can be found inside Annúminas. There the Dúnedain fight a never-ending battle with those seeking to wrest the City of the Kings (and its secrets) from the Rangers.
Outside of Annúminas
However, Invaders from Angmar Deed can be also cleared outside of Annúminas, if you want to.
Your reasons for this might be:
There are two, technically three, key locations you need to note.

Tham Ornen
Angmarim have taken over this ruin just for you to defeat them! Well okay, maybe not, but you can pretend they did.
You can find it at 8.7S, 66.4W.
Tombs of Men Erain
The two Tombs you’re looking for are:
- Haudh Arantar (17.2S, 66.3W)
- Haudh Eldacar (17.2S, 66.8W)
There are quests in all these locations. So, in order to help you clear the deed and not prevent any players progressing their quests, travelling between Men Erain and Tham Ornen is a good compromise. Or you can take out some nearby Kergrim or Limrafn before heading into the tombs again, for example.

Gertheryg Slayer Deed
Brutes from the North
Yeppers, this is another deed with two names. The overall “Slayer of Evendim Deed” log page says “slay many Gertheryg”, rather than “complete Brutes from the North (Advanced)”. But they’re the same thing.
What’s Gertheryg, Precious?
Gertheryg is the plural of Gorthorog (“Gorthorogs” is not correct), which I’m presuming is a mashup of:
So, the enemy you’re actually after for the Evendim Slayer Deed is called a Gorthorog.
I remember getting confused with that early in my LOTRO journey. But lore and language are just two reasons why LOTRO is worth playing.
Where’s Gertheryg, Precious?
Now that is far simpler to explain! The short answer is: Annúminas.
On the City’s Map
The longer answer is that you need to tour around the City of the Kings, taking them out as you encounter them.
On the Evendim Map
So you can see this from a region-wide perspective, Gertheryg are only in Annúminas. Some are closer together in the Tyl Annûn quarter, but that is also packed with Angmarim and other challenging enemies.
Do I have to Go into Annúminas?
If you want to clear Gertheryg-slayer and the whole of the Slayer of Evendim Deed, then yes! Follow the questlines, do all the side-quests and you will end up in the right level range for it.
Just make sure you’re gear is up-to-scratch as some parts of Annúminas can be rough as a solo player on-level.
If you haven’t finished Angmarim Slayer, then you can do that at the same time. If you’re vaguely on-level, you may not have a choice in the matter anyhow!

Dead Slayer Deed
I remember reading somewhere that many years ago LOTRO merged two sets of deeds to pool all Evendim’s together. That may explain why some enemies in the Evendim Slayer Deed have two titles.
Spirits Aiding Angmar
Dead-slayer is also called Spirits Aiding Angmar. To further complicate your task, this one cannot be completed on the landscape! The only valid Dead are in two full-fellowship instances.
In this case, I had to consult the Wiki as it had been ages since I last cleared this deed.

Haudh Valandil (min. L40)
There are various spirits in this instance, most of which are Limrafn. This means you can progress both Spirits Aiding Angmar and Limrafn-slayer at the same time in here.
Limrafn on the landscape do not contribute to the Dead-slayer deed.
You can find extra pointers on the Wiki. Read it on their page, as I felt it unfair to reproduce or paraphrase their work here.
You can also read more about Haudh Valandil here.
Ost Elendil (min. L40)
Ost Elendil is beautiful! The main problem is that it’s host to some decidedly unbeautiful things. Namely, dead things.
I couldn’t tell you at which level Ost Elendil and Haudh Valandil become soloable, though.
Myrlas here managed it in the mid L80s. If you like group content, then get a fellowship together. Your kin may be willing to help out – and even World Chat might worth trying (under the LFF channel, ideally).

Brigand Slayer Deed
Once you leave the Hobbits who live on the Shire border of Evendim, you begin to make acquaintances with the local rangers. Or, the Wardens of Annúminas.
Much of their work revolves around either uncovering their history in the region, or protecting it. And one repeated problem is that of Tomb-Robbers.
Tomb-Defender Deed
This is why the stages of the Evendim Brigand Slayer are actually called Tomb-Defender and Tomb-Defender (Advanced). Tomb-Robbers, and similarly-named enemies, are mostly found on the East side of Evendim. There is one key exception.
The best two places are:
Rantost (7.2S, 69.6W)
Rantost is an island in Lake Evendim, whose ruins have become a brigand stronghold camp.
You can reach it by swimming West into the lake from the nearby beach.
Barad Tharsír (15.5S, 60.5W)
This sprawling ruin is crawling with tomb-robbers. The “problem” is that a lot of quests come here. And, because there are so many brigands, it can be a popular place for deeders.
Other Locations
- Haudh Eärendur (16.0S, 66.4W)
- Barad Rath (7.4S, 66.6W)
- Tham Varan (12.1S, 63.9W)
The good news is that there are other locations and many pockets of the robbers that you don’t need to obsess over just one location.
You will also find tomb-robbers dotted here and there throughout Parth Aduial. Sometimes they’re not even near a tomb or ruin!

Limrafn Slayer Deed
Limrafn are a kind of wandering spirit that appear as a ball of white light. They will also follow you (and lose interest in you), the same way gnats and flies do. But, on the landscape, they don’t automatically attack you.
Where Are Limrafn?
As you can see from the next map, you can find them in the Barandalf part of Evendim. I’ve shown the specific spots I found Limrafn on my scouting mission there, as I didn’t want to clutter up the actual Evendim Slayer Deed Map below.
Tips
- Day/Night:
I believe this is still correct: there should be more Limrafn out during the nighttime cycles than during the day. - Two Deeds at Once:
If you’re over-levelled or can get a group together, then head to Haudh Valandil. The Limrafn in there contribute to both Spirits Aiding Angmar and Limrafn-slayer. - If you’re a Hunter, use Passage of Shadow on the landscape to more easily find nearby targets.

Giants also inhabit Emyn Uial. But unlike the Gauredain, they only have one settlement: Amon Môth (8.2S, 74.7W).
This area is the location of some fabulous and hilarious story-telling. If you’re newish to LOTRO, I won’t spoil it for you. Pick up the questlines at the Eavespires, which will eventually lead you to the giants.

- Tham Andalath (9.5S, 63.1W): a partial ruin that has been pretty much taken over as a goblin settlement. Also expect “doom clouds”.
In both locations you can expect “normal” goblins and groups of roaming Boggarts. Both types count towards the LOTRO Evendim Slayer Deed. So slay away!

You can find them both in and around the tombs of Men Erain. But, specifically, switch between the following tombs if you want to clear it fairly quickly.
- Haudh Valandur (16.4S, 66.5W): 9 × Kergrim (inside)
- Haudh Tarcil (17.1S, 66.0W): 6 × Kergrim (outside)
Haudh Valandil
If you take on Spirits Aiding Angmar, then Haudh Valandil has a high population of Kergrim. If you’re running it with a fellowship, it may be worth using a deed accelerator so that you cut the number of runs you need.

Salamander Slayer Deed
Salamanders are a dragonkind creature that are pretty dangerous, despite looking pretty cute.
They spit oil on you, then set you alight. Not so cute.
- Barandalf
You can find them around the more southern part of the beach, though you can often find one or two along or around it.
That includes Traders Wharf on the other side of the Brandywine, which is the base of operations for the League of the Axe in the Wildwood of Bree-land. - Tyl Ruinen
You can reach this island by boat from other boat taxi ports. Or you can swim. This island has a very high population of Salamanders.
So, my advice is – if someone else is on the island, come back later. You may find it less frustrating that way.

Defend the Dúnedain and Clear the LOTRO Evendim Slayer Deed
Evendim, and especially Annúminas, is a location of importance in the history of Middle-Earth. But where the Enemies of Sauron live – or used to live – enemies abound. Some work against the Dúnedain, some are natural threats and others take advantage of the chaos to line their own pockets.
As long as the Evendim Slayer Deed is, to battle all the foes in the LOTRO Deeds for this region gives you a sense of the scale of the challenge facing the Rangers. Do your bit, earn some coin, gain the reputation and be rewarded with titles and LOTRO Points! I hope this guide helped. However you spend your time in LOTRO, make sure you’re having actual fun in Middle-Earth.
