Unlocking the Rogue Hunting Log
You start the Rogue class by enrolling at the Rogues’ Guild in Limsa Lominsa with the quest My First Daggers
, or by starting your character with that class. The nearest Aetheryte shard is the Fisherman’s Bottom.
You will receive your Rogue Hunting Log as part of the early dialogues.
To enter the Rogues’ Guild you have to speak with Lonwoerd outside. This continues to be true regardless of your level.

This clearly not-lost Lost Lamb contentedly munches grass with other sheep. Because to be honest, this one is pretty-much fully grown, yes?Finding their location is also really easy. Head to Middle La Noscea from Limsa Lominsa and you can see them. Wharf Rats that are also on your Rogue Hunting Log.

The Aurelia really should be sent back to the sea, where it looks like they belong! They're sort of a creepy squid-like...thing. It's possible the Sea Wasp is a related species too. Just be careful of their stings when engaging them.

The Wild Dodo proves they are not extinct on Etheirys at least. You'll also encounter Fat Dodos later. Not that these ones are skinny!Why they have become the target for trainee Rogues, I have no idea!
Where are Wild Dodos?
You can find them in the Cedarwood area of Lower La Noscea. If you leave Limsa via the Tempest Gate and head North-East, you'll see them once you pass The Eyes. They're just up the road from the Aurelia, actually. Involved in FATEs

If you were hoping to spot the Goblin Fisher because it was fishing, well, you'll be disappointed! You'll have to either click or tab to find the correct Goblin, or have nameplates on. This is because some are your targets and others are Goblin Gamblers. Or just fly in with both knives and take out a bunch of them.

You can find them in Middle La Noscea, on the East edge, North of Rogue River (*chuckle*). Exit Limsa via the Zephyr gate and head North East (ish).Region/Area

Pugil

As I was taking the screenshot of the Pugil, I did wonder if there were any Pugilist weapons that looked like this ugly fish...things. There ought to be, really! That aside, they fly/hover, with sharp teeth, a long alligator-like mouth and fins that look more dragonesque than those found on fish.. You'll have the right area(s) marked for that quest.
Rogue Class Quest
I've only put this one here for completeness. This enemy is actually required to complete the Level 1 Rogue Quest Stabbers in Your Fambles. You'll have the right area(s) marked for that quest.Where are Pugils?
Anyhow, they're not difficult to find. Exit Limsa via the Zephyr Gate to Middle La Noscea. Head North towards the Cookpot (where the Wounded Aurochs are), and your targets are all along the Agelyss River.Region/Area

If you struggle to eat your vegetables normally, you'll find it even harder after defeating a Tiny Mandragora. These are animated veggies. They don't speak our language, although the original Mandaville Storyline shows that they understand it. Anyhow, your job is to cut and slice a few up for your Hunting Log. Maybe steer clear of adding them to your dinnertime preparation though!
Where are Tiny Mandragoras?
A good hunting ground is on the North-West corner of the Red Rooster Stead in Lower La Noscea. This is just a bit further into Cedarwood after a bunch of Wild Dodos.
There are also loads near the windmills around X:33.8, Y:17.2.

If this is not your first class, then you'll likely notice that that Galago is La Noscea's Opo-opo. They share the same look, and have similar ranged attacks. Don't get awed by its cuteness and fluffy tail! They can be vicious, especially if you anger more than one., where the Cave Bats live.They are always found in groups, though. So, be careful not to attack too many at once if you're roughly on-level.

The Grounded Pirate, alongside the Grounded Raider loiters with others around their small camp in Middle La Noscea. These ones wield a knife and a tiny little shield!Terrifying, aren't they? Grounded Raider

Both the Grounded Raider and the Grounded Pirate feature in your Rogue Hunting Log Rank 1. Other classes have one or the other.
But given you cannot pick one off the gaggle of pirates (that is the collective noun, right?), you have to jump in. Or sneak in. Either way, you can't get away without aggro-ing both kinds, really.
Just be efficient in taking them down, Rogue!
Where are Grounded Raiders?
There's no map point at their camp, however The Cookpot (where the Wounded Aurochs are) does have one. The Raiders are just South-East of there, on the same side of the river. Involved in FATE

When Can I Start Hunting Log Rank 2?
Once:
- You have cleared Rank 1, and
- You are at least Level 10 as a Rogue.
TL;DR Practice Your Swings and Stabs with the Rogue Hunting Log Rank 1
What I’ve found with early FFXIV Hunting Logs for the other classes is that you’re given a range of enemies with different attacks and defences.
I think that’s a great idea, as you are learning new combat skills. So here, you have physical attacks, interrupting DoTs, ranged and melée and others. Enjoy completing the Rogue Hunting Log Rank 1 and getting used to your stabbers. I’ll see you soon for Rank 2!
