Welcome to the FFXIV Marauder Hunting Log Rank 1 Guide! Whether you’re a new Final Fantasy 14 player, or have been around a while and just want to clear it quickly, I’m here to help you. Here you’ll find all your targets for Rank 1, along with information and maps. Each enemy has their own page, which includes other helpful pointers like additional locations or other nearby targets.
So, let’s get into it!
Unlocking the Marauder Hunting Log
You start the Marauder Class by enrolling at the Marauders’ Guild in Limsa Lominsa. Or by starting your character with that class.
You will receive your hunting log as part of the early dialogues.
So, which enemies do we get to swing wildly at with our axe and hope we don’t lop off our own heads? Let’s jump in face-first, shall we?
Little Ladybug (La Noscea)
Number Required: 3

Where is the Little Ladybug in La Noscea?
Your initial quest for your class will mark the spot in Middle La Noscea. It’s just a bit East of the Zephyr Gate to Limsa. In La Noscea, they’re found mingling with the Wharf Rats.
ConsoleGamesWiki says there are some in Lower La Noscea. I just stuck to the ones from the quest to keep it simple.
Warning: Skogs Fru
No, that’s not a typo! I once had a laughing fit – unfair though it was – when I saw someone come out of Limsa and immediately get defeated by Skogs Fru. Skogs is a Ladybug – but is also level 50 and has its own name. Don’t challenge Skogs if you’re just starting out in your new class!

Wharf Rat
Number Required: 3

The Wharf Rat seems a bit like a distant cousin of the fluffier Star Marmot. They’re just as cute, but is it still a rat. You’re in a naval area and we know how welcome rats are onboard a ship.
Well, they’re equally welcome off ships too!
Where are Wharf Rats?
I’ve gone for the location marked in your intro quest (or at least one of them), as you can find them near Little Ladybugs. This is just East of Limsa’s Zephyr Gate.

Aurelia
Number Required: 3

The Aurelia really should be sent back to the sea, where it looks like they belong! They’re sort of a creepy squid-like…thing. It’s possible the Sea Wasp is a related species too. Just be careful of their stings when engaging them.
Where are the Aurelia?
Head into Lower La Noscea (Limsa’s Tempest Gate), then make your way towards Cedarwood. Before you reach that area, you’ll come across your targets.

Bee Cloud
Number Required: 3

Oddly enough, the Bee Cloud is a Marauder-only Hunting Log entry. That means, flinging your axe wildly through their swarms is more effective than, say, the Arcanist’s wind spells. Allegedy!
Where are Bee Clouds?
I managed to find three swarms close together for you, which may or may not be the case for you. These were just South of Seasong Grotto, where you will also find your Bogy targets.
If other players are clearing their Marauder logs then you can wait for them to respawn. Alternatively, this resource gives us two additional coordinates in Middle La Noscea:
- X:17.2, Y:18.4
- X:22, Y:17

Wild Dodo
Number Required: 3

I was about to start this entry on the Wild Dodo with a sarcastic comment about all Dodos being wild. Then I remembered having seen players with the mount!
Where are Wild Dodos?
You can find them in the Cedarwood area of Lower La Noscea. If you leave Limsa via the Tempest Gate and head North-East, you’ll see them once you pass The Eyes. They’re just up the road from the Aurelia, actually.

Tiny Mandragora
Number Required: 3

If you struggle to eat your vegetables normally, you’ll find it even harder after defeating a Tiny Mandragora. These are animated veggies. They don’t speak our language, although the original Mandaville Storyline shows that they understand it. Anyhow, your job is to cut and slice a few up for your Hunting Log. Maybe steer clear of adding them to your dinnertime preparation though!
Where are Tiny Mandragoras?
A good hunting ground is on the North-West corner of the Red Rooster Stead in Lower La Noscea. This is just a bit further into Cedarwood after a bunch of Wild Dodos.
There are also loads near the windmills around X:33.8, Y:17.2.

Bogy
Number Required: 3

If you started your character’s story in Limsa Lominsa, you do not need to seek the Bogy purposefully. The MSQ will take you to Seasong Grotto 1, which is where they are.
Where is the Bogy?
The grotto I just mentioned is marked on your Middle La Noscea map. If you trace the road South-West from Summerford Farm, you’ll spot it. The bogies are underground at that location.
Also, if you’ve just been clearing Bee Clouds, the grotto is North of one bee hotspot.

Wounded Aurochs
Number Required: 3

If there is a quest that tells you what injured the Wounded Aurochs, I can’t remember it. Blame the Calamity, everybody does it.
Where are The Wounded Aurochs?
They can be found in Middle La Noscea in the circular area called The Cookpot. They are all inside that walled circle, so be aware that, if you’re on-level, it’s not hard to aggro two or more at the same time. Time to practice that tanking early, Marauder!
Not in a FATE, but…
This Auroch is not part of FATE…directly. However Menuis at Work spawns in The Cookpot. While I have managed to complete that FATE without the surrounding Aurochs joining in, that’s rare.

Grounded Raider
Number Required: 3

There are two types of enemies here who long lost their ship: The Grounded Raider (relevant to Marauders and Rogues) and the Grounded Pirate (relevant for Arcanists and Rogues).
The Raider is the Marauder’s “opposite number”, sporting an axe and attempting to look intimidating. Such is the fate of the boatless, I guess.
Where are Grounded Raiders?
There’s no map point at their camp, however The Cookpot (where the Wounded Aurochs are) does have one. The Raiders are just South-East of the Cookpot and on the same side of the river.

Megalocrab
Number Required: 3

If you have done your Rank 1 Hunting Log in order, then the Megalocrab is the last enemy for it, huzzah! And their name is a fair representation of their size too.
Where are Megalocrabs?
I took the ones for this guide from Middle La Noscea. I hopped over the river (well, I probably flew, to be honest) North of where the Wounded Aurochs are. They’re not difficult to see!
This Wiki also gives us X:23, Y:37 in Lower La Noscea as another location to look.

Now I think about it, because Shearing is a boss with a name, I don’t know if he directly counts. I should try that some day.

When Can I Start Hunting Log Rank 2?
Once:
- You have cleared Rank 1, and
- You are at least Level 10 as a Marauder.
TL;DR Begin to Hone Your Axe with the Marauder Hunting Log Rank 1
Well done on making it through this first log! I’ve now properly started the Marauder series and I aim to add one log per week. In the meantime, see my FFXIV Hunting Log Guide and browse others I have completed. Enjoy your time FF14, folks!
