Welcome to your FFXIV Marauder Hunting Log Rank 4 Guide! At this point in the story, you may well be a Warrior and getting entangled in the affairs of Ishgardians. It makes sense then, that a fair few of your targets for Rank 4 are in the Coerthas Central Highlands. So pull on your warmest glamours and let’s get axe-swinging for EXP and glory. Or EXP at least!
When Can I Start Rank 4?
Once:
- You have cleared the Marauder Hunting Log Rank 3, and
- You are at least Level 30 as a Marauder or Warrior.
All your soon-to-be defeated enemies are below. As always, I’ve included a screenshot, description, map and some other helpful information for you. With these Hunting Logs, I’ve also tried not to make it just a boring info-dump, which is why I have a mini paragraph for each. Enjoy.
Stroper
Number Required: 4

You will find these outside Haukke Manor’s gates, not far from the Floating Eye you had in Marauder Rank 3.

Central Shroud: Bentbranch Meadows
Adamantoise
Number Required: 4

Still huge, but not as big as a Giant Tortoise, the Adamantoise lives in the swampy part of the South Shroud, rather than the dry, hot climes you might expect.
Adamantoise Location
These are found South-West of Camp Tranquil in Rootslake, South Shroud, heading towards The Lost City of Adampor. There you’ll find at least five Adamantoise with a few further away too. If you find yourself with a wall of Revenants, turn back.
Region/Area

South Shroud: Camp Tranquil
Grass Raptor
Number Required: 2

There are various breeds similar to the Grass Raptor in Eorzea, right from the Anole in the Black Shroud to the Velociraptor deeper into La Noscea. And that’s before considering those in Dravania and in the First.
Grass Raptor Location
As for these ones, there are actually two places in Eastern La Noscea to hunt for Grass Raptors. I’ve just gone for the zone closest to the Aetheryte at Wineport for the map. Just turn left out of the gates, head North and there they are!
The dots on the map are a tad more useful than one coordinate for this location. The second place to look is further South of Wineport – around X:16, Y:25

Smoke Bomb
Number Required: 3

Yet more explosive fun with these levitating voidsent. Smoke Bombs are found around Byregot’s Strike in the middle of the Sagolii Desert. There is a side quest there that involves taking down some of these, so you could kill two bombs with one stone…wait, that doesn’t work.
Just defeat them in your usual way!
Region/Area
Southern Thanalan: Sagolii Desert
Nearest Aetheryte
Southern Thanalan: Forgotton Springs
Snipper
Number Required: 4

Methinks the name Snipper does not really do justice to the injury you could receive from this red Megalocrab! No wonder they’re on the Marauder Hunting Log. But at least the beach chefs could use the epic amount of meat you’d harvest from them. Assuming you didn’t chop them up too badly, or singe them to a crisp with your Beast flames!
Snipper Location
Honestly, you can’t miss them! From the Costa del Sol, head South. The beach is littered with the things. No problem!
Involved in FATE
And if, for some strange reason, there weren’t enough for you, then the FATE Crab and Go has a plethora of them.

Bloodshore Bell
Number Required: 4

How to describe the Bloodshore Bell? It’s kind of like a floating, solid jellyfish, but with a more helmet-looking head. Maybe. It’s made to look like it has teeth and two of its tenticles are forward facing, in a sort of Darth Sidious, floppy hand stance.
But you will have no problem find them. There are loads on the beach North of the Costa del Sol Aetheryte. Just be wary of their AoE, which gives you an interrupt debuff.

Jungle Coeurl
Number Required: 4

“In the jungle, the mighty jungle the coeurl sleeps tonight!”. Well no, they don’t actually. These truly beautiful creatures stalk Eastern La Noscea daring anyone who wishes to turn their fur into swimwear. Or any other kinds of clothes. Aaaaanyway, the Jungle Coeurl species can be found not too far from the Giant Pelicans.
The only thing to watch out for is their AoE “Charged Whiskers” attack, which gives you the interrupting debuff.

Snow Wolf Pup
Number Required: 4

Aw, a puppy! One with enormous claws, and fangs and might rip your face off. Maybe the Snow Wolf Pup is not so cute, eh?
Snow Wolf Pup Location
These are found West of the Observatorium not far from the entrance to Dzemael Darkhold. Don’t do what I did and stray further into the Boulder Downs where Snow Wolves are. Stick within the Dragonhead boundary!
Alternative Aetheryte
Revenant’s Toll in Mor Dhona isn’t much different in distance away than the Camp Dragonhead one.

Highland Goobbue
Number Required: 3

The Highland Goobbue is is the first of its type you have to take down in the Marauder Hunting Log Rank 4. The Snowstorm Goobbue comes later!
Highland Goobbue Location
Unsurprisingly, they can be found in Coerthas Central Highlands.
Marauders only need three, and there are plenty available between Camp Dragonhead and the Observatorium. Teleport to Camp Dragonhead and begin to head South. X:26.7, Y:19.6 is the first one you encounter.
In case there were not three when you arrived, take your search further South.

Ornery Karakul
Number Required: 4

The really cute, black Ornery Karakul is your next chance to prove your prowess in battle. Just don’t fail, eh? That would be embarassing!
Now, the Karakuls are actually found in two different locations. This is a good thing for two reasons.Frstly, if there are none near Camp Dragonhead, there’s another spot to head to. And secondly, if you need Fleece or Karakul Skin for crafting, you can defeat one group, do the same for the second and get back around the time the first group respawns.

Redhorn Ogre
Number Required: 2

The Redhorn Ogre is a brute of a creature that is both physically strong and has fire-based ranged attacks. These are classified as Voidsent too, so they’re not natural inhabitants of Coerthas.
There are loads of them around Providence Point, so my main coordinates below are a vague figure. Except in the FATE below, they are spread apart. Either way, the map is your best guide, and there are more than you need!

Downy Aevis
Number Required: 4

Travel to the Coerthas Central Highlands and head North to hunt your Downy Aevis. They don’t appear particularly downy, but maybe the reason the Dragon is angry is because it’s furrier than its counterparts.
Yeah, I’m sure it’s that and not Ishgard’s relentless war.
Downy Aevis Location
You’ll find these in the Providence Point area, just North of the Redhorn Ogres.
While there are plenty of Aevis’ here, bear in mind that the MSQ also brings players here. So if another player is defeating your dragons, please come back later.

Snowstorm Goobbue
Number Required: 4

It’s another type of Goobbue! And, while this one is in Coerthas, the Snowstorm Goobbue is not the same as the Highland Goobbue. That’s because it’s in a slightly different area.
Snowstorm Goobbue Location
You’ll find these ones by heading West out of Camp Dragonhead into the Whitebrim area. They’re found up to the entrance to Ishgard – the Gates of Judgement. Also, I know I’ve written X:24, Y:17, but that’s like the centre point, rather than one specific Goobbue.

Grenade
Number Required: 4

A cousin, sister or brother of the similar-looking enemies on various Hunting Logs in FFXIV. Just as explosive and in your face. Don’t let them explode your face, it won’t be pretty, look sharp Marauder / Warrior!
Grenade Location
Iron Lake is the yellowy area you can see from the exit to Camp Overlook. Don’t worry, there are loads of Grenades, even if Fire in the Hole is not active.

When Can I Start Hunting Log Rank 4?
Once:
- You have cleared Rank 3, and
- You are at least Level 30 as a Marauder or Warrior.
TL;DR Clear the FFXIV Marauder Hunting Log Rank 4 easily…and coldly!
While you freeze your extremities off, the MSQ is heating up around the time you’re onto Hunting Log 4. But again, you have a wide variety of combat abilities to defend against: AoEs, DoTs, interrupts and stuns and the Ornery Karakul‘s best move – Fleece Butt! But if you’ve cleared this Marauder hunting log – then you only have one more to go – which is coming soon.
If you have other characters or classes, please do check out my other FFXIV Hunting Log Guides too.
See you soon, FFXIV folks!
