LOTRO Festival Token Exchange

LOTRO Festival Token Exchange - How to Exchange Event Tokens

Have you ever got to a point with a LOTRO event where you have way too many tokens and nothing to use them on? Or maybe there’s one event you loved and banked up loads, but don’t have enough tokens or time for the next event. Well, then I want to introduce the LOTRO Festival Token Exchange system.

So, here’s probably my shortest guide of the year: How and where you can change your currencies, along with an important warning. Let’s get down to business.

Why Would You Need to Change Tokens?

Overflowing with tokens has happened a lot to me over the years. It comes with the combination of enjoying LOTRO Events, wanting to run them for Virtue XP VXP and writing about them. But sometimes you don’t have the time to get the rewards of the latest event, or you want to focus on crafting or questing instead. The Token Exchange allows you to do that.

Where Can You Exchange Tokens?

Before doing this post, I’d convinced myself that all the major festival hubs had an exchange NPC. I was wrong! There is only one NPC available all year round, and there is another specific to just one event.

The Shire

Becka Burdock, The Party Tree
Coordinates: 29.8S, 71.6W
Active: All Year Round

Inn League/Ale Association

LOTRO Frago Sandheaver - Inn League Barter Vendor, also sells Boxes of Festival Tokens.
Inn League and Ale Association vendors also barter for them. Sadly, Frago SandheaverExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) and LarExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) are only available during certain events.

Though not quite a festival token exchanges, Badges of Taste Badges of Taste and Badges of Dishonour Badges of Dishonour can only be earned during Seasonal Festivals.

Keeper of Gifts

These are the NPCs you can exchange Steel Tokens Steel Tokens with during the LOTRO Anniversary Event.

But you can’t change Steel Tokens for other event currencies.

If you want to plan ahead, the Wiki has the full list of Keepers of Gifts hereExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab).

Which Festivals are Included?

So, if you mentally clock that the ones you can exchange are for Seasonal events, that makes it easier.

Example Events Not Included

Therefore, anything not Seasonal is not included, such as:

You also cannot exchange Steel Tokens Steel Tokens, even though they can be earned during the Anniversary.

What is the Festival Token Exchange Rate?

The changing of one event currency to another involves bartering for a Box of Festival Tokens. So, you buy a box with one currency type, to receive the choice of another type.

Box of Festival Tokens Cost

Your pick-box of tokens costs:

  • 10 × Spring Leaves Spring Leaves
  • 10 × Anniversary Tokens Anniversary Tokens
  • 5 × Midsummer Tokens Midsummer Tokens
  • 20 × Fall Festival Tokens Fall Festival Tokens
  • 25 × Farmers Faire Tokens Farmers Faire Tokens
  • 25 × Yule Festival Token Yule Festival Tokens

Inn League/Ale Association

If you have the right standing with these factions, you can acquire a Box of Festival Tokens for:

  • Badges of Taste × 2 Badges of Taste
  • Badges of Dishonour × 2 Badges of Dishonour

A Warning

Be very careful using this system because you can lose tokens if you make a mistake. Let me explain, using an example.

  • 12 × Yule Festival Token Yule Tokens costs 10 × Spring Leaves Spring Leaves
  • 6 × Spring Leaves Spring Leaves costs 25 × Yule Festival Token Yule Tokens

These numbers are not the same in both directions. So you cannot change your mind without losing tokens.

It’s even more obvious if you keep to the same currency: 10 × Fall Festival Tokens Fall Festival Tokens costs 20 × Fall Festival Tokens Fall Festival Tokens!

So, it’s a great system, but be completely sure before doing your exchanges.

TL;DR Use the LOTRO Festival Token Exchange When You’re Overflowing

If there’s one particular festival you like more – or grind more for other reasons – you may find you’re overflowing with that currency. Yule Festival is one in the LOTRO Events Schedule where I always have hundreds and occasionally thousands of tokens. You can use the Festival Token Exchange to acquire those you’re less excited about, but still want a few rewards. Just bear in mind my warning about being certain about the exchange, then go ahead and use it with confidence. Happy Festivaling, LOTRO folks!
