Itrust you have a desire to go Goobbue-spotting, because the FFXIV Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 4 makes you do just that! By now, you may be a Monk and taking time to meditate between punches, but Eorzea still needs you to take down dangerous beasts in the name of freedom.
As is normal now, you’ll have a fair bit of travelling to do, including into Coerthas. So remember some mantras and lets go punch stuff upside the head.
The Gladiator-style Mamool Ja Breeder can be found among others of his kind in Upper La Noscea. But for the Pugilist Log, at least, you don't need to worry about the other types (such as the Mamool Ja Sophist).They can be found in two distinct areas of Upper La Noscea, which is annoying because you need five. I only found five as well, so if someone else it burning them down you'll have to wait for them to respawn. That or look for the FATEs they're in.
If you're here for Thaumaturge rather than any other class or job, I really feel for you! It's another Yarzon, lucky you. The Russet Yarzons are dead easy to find, so easy to make dead. Once you reach Forgotten Springs, head out the southern gate towards the Sagolii Desert and turn right. There are plenty of them.
Yet more explosive fun with these levitating voidsent. Smoke Bombs are found around Byregot's Strike in the middle of the Sagolii Desert. There is a side quest there that involves taking down some of these, so you could kill two bombs with one stone...wait, that doesn't work.Just defeat them in your usual way!
They look as ugly and menacing as the name suggests. They are flying critters that all seem to gather at the same point. Bring your AoE attacks, because you'll almost certainly aggro more than one Deathgaze at a time anyway.Note, that unlike FFXIV Gladiator Hunting Log Rank 4, Pugilists will need to defeat 5 Deathgazes.

These are found in the Central Shroud, at the location known as Sanguine Perch (around X:17.8, Y:22.0).
Whoopee, the Basalt Golem - more rocks animated by magicks for no other reason than to roam around looking menacing!If you have other classes, you may have dealt with a Crater Golem already. In fact, the MSQ brings you face-to-face with a Golem really early on, so this isn't new.This type can be found around the Long Climb. If you're on the grassy areas, you'll need to hop down a level. Golem's don't like grass, apparently.
If you landed because you're on the Pugilist Hunting Log run, then the Goobbue is the first of three different types of this enemy! Indeed in La Noscea and the Black Shroud there are a fair few types.This one, simply known by its species name, can easily be found in the area South of Wineport. While I have given vague coordinates, they take up a huge area. The most northerly point is X:17.2, Y29.0 and the most southerly X:17.0, Y:32.2
"In the jungle, the mighty jungle the coeurl sleeps tonight!". Well no, they don't actually. These truly beautiful creatures stalk Eastern La Noscea daring anyone who wishes to turn their fur into swimwear. Or any other kinds of clothes. Aaaaanyway, the Jungle Coeurl species can be found not too far from the Giant Pelicans.The only thing to watch out for is their AoE "Charged Whiskers" attack, which gives you the interrupting debuff.
For those of us still living with the nightmares of Jurassic Park 2, it's nice to know FFXIV gives us a way to deal with Velociraptors. And turn them into food and armour!
Velociraptor Location
These are found along the path that runs West-to-East near Camp Overlook, heading towards the Floating City of Nym. Having had to clear this at the same time as someone else (or they were collecting Culinarian ingrediants/leathers) I can say the respawn timer is fine. Or go kill off another Hunting Log entry then come back.
Well, dear Pugilist, I really hope you like Goobbues. Or, at least, like taking them down. The Highland Goobbue is is the second such enemy for you, following your earlier foray with the Goobbue.
Finding Highland Goobbues
Hopefully, you're unsurprised to learn that they can be found in Coerthas Central Highlands. Clue's in the name, and all that.Okay, now, as a Pugilist you need five of these things. But they're actually spread out between Camp Dragonhead and the Observatorium. Teleport to Camp Dragonhead and begin to head South. X:26.7, Y:19.6 is the first one you encounter.Once you've cleared those marked in the 3-dot map. If the first has not respawned, then you can head South to collect the other two:

Feral Crocs have really weird, empty eye sockets and an even stranger snappy mouth. They roam the area between Camp Dragonhead and the Obervatorium in Coerthas Central Highlands. While I have put some locations on the map here, there are likely more to be found too. Be considerate if others also seem to be killing a lot of them and wait for respawn if necessary.
The Redhorn Ogre is a brute of a creature that is both physically strong and has fire-based ranged attacks. These are classified as Voidsent too, so they're not natural inhabitants of Coerthas.There are loads of them around Providence Point, so my main coordinates below are a vague figure. Except in the FATE below, they are spread apart. Either way, the map is your best guide, and there are more than you need!
Redhorn Ogres in FATEs
Simply Red (around X:24.0, Y:14.5, you can see it active in the bottom right of the minimap below.)
You will have no doubt seen various creatures like the Molted Ziz already. This includes the otherwise nondescript... Ziz.As this variety live in Larkscall, where the light can be described as "murky" at best, I've add to tweak the screenshot!
Where are the Molted Ziz?
They are pretty large, so you'll have no issue spotting them. But, they're in the first wide area of Larkscall, if you enter from Little Solace, anyway.For Pugilists, you can also find a few Ochu around here. When it comes to clearing the Hunting Log, any efficiency is worth it!
No more messing around with Microchu, now you're at the Rank 4, Pugilist, you have the full-grown Ochu to handle. They have physical attacks and poison DoT moves too, just to warn you.
Where are Ochu?
So, while there can be a couple available once you enter Larkscall, you're better off checking these coordinates instead:
X:26.8, Y:22.3 and
X:26.1, Y:21.2
There are at least two in both locations, and you only need three in total.
It's another type of Goobbue! And, while this one is in Coerthas, the Snowstorm Goobbue is not the same as the Highland Goobbue. That's because it's in a slightly different area.
Where are Snowstorm Goobbues?
You'll find these ones by heading West out of Camp Dragonhead into the Whitebrim area. They're found up to the entrance to Ishgard - the Gates of Judgement. Dun, dun, duuuuun. I know I've written X:24, Y:17, but that's like the centre point, rather than one specific Goobbue.
TL;DR Don’t Monk Up Your Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 4
That made more sense in my head, but I’ll leave it in anyway. The end is in sight for this class at last. FF14 Hunting Logs can feel a grind if you do them all in one go. I find it best, if this is a secondary class, to level with FATEs or Levequests and pick up log targets in smaller batches.
But hey, if you want to clear the FFXIV Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 4 a different way, then do it your way. You get the same EXP rewards! Just do your best to enjoy your time in FF14, rather than chasing achievements or levels. Until next time!
