The FFXIV Archer Hunting Log Rank 3 takes you from Level 21 to 30. It’s at 30 that you can choose to become a Bard. But, in case you’re new to Final Fantasy 14, the Hunting Log remains an “Archer” one. As I have with the other guides, you can find all the target enemies below. I’ve included an image of the foe and a map as to where you can find them. Hopefully, this will help you clear the log efficiently, while also enjoying the journey a bit. So, let’s get into it, shall we?
I bet you can't work out what these creatures' primary defence is, can you?! Thankfully, even if someone else is clearing their Hunting Log Rank 3 at the same time as you, there are loads of Stoneshells for you here.
Location
These crabs are in the Oakwood part of Upper La Noscea. It is quicker and easier to reach this by taking the road North from Western La Noscea. If you do teleport to Camp Bronze Lake and don't have flying yet, head to the boat ferry.
Region/Area
Upper La Noscea: Oakwood
Nearest Aetheryte
Upper La Noscea: Camp Bronze Lake (Fly or take the boat to Oakwood) and Western La Noscea: Aleport
I don't know if there's a FFXIV quest that explains why there are Diseased Treants in the Bramble Patch, but I do kind of want to know! The coordinates below are vague because, so long as you stick within the main part of the Patch, you'll be able to find enough Treants by using your eyes! They are huge.
Forest Yarzons seem especially creepy at night when the moon is shining. With that encouragement in mind, you'll find this particular breed of ugliness en route to Fool Falls, not far from some Coeurls. Also, while Camp Bronze Lake is theoretically nearer, if you're close to being on-level, then Aleport is much easier.
What a beautiful, buggy source of disease! I can't imagine why you'd be asked to kill a number of this poisonous death-bringers, can you? The Jumping Djigga does as its name implies - it jumps and flutters from place-to-place, rather than actually flying. This breed of insect is found in the Bramble Patch, but not the area you initially arrive in. Take the North-West path (on the map it's the path that's parallel to the one for the Sanctum of the Twelve).
There's probably a quest somewhere around here that explains who these Overgrown Offerings are for or to. Suffice to say that they won't exactly be willing sacrifices. Also, as an Archer you need only find and defeat/impale/kill/squash two of them.
Overgrown Offering Location
These can be found to the West of Quarrymill. Or, more accurately, North-East of Buscarron's Druthers. They're not difficult to spot, what with being "overgrown" and all that.
The Yarzon Scavenger is described in the Hunting Log as being in the Footfalls. The problem is that's a huge area. To find this particular breed of six-legged freaks, head North past Vesper Bay. Continue North until you come to the murky area and the Yarzons are right there as you emerge from the tunnel. If Laughing Toads are on one of your hunting logs at rank 3, then these are in the same area, just further in.
Okay Archer, it's time to hunt the hunter. A Redbelly Sharpeye wields a bow as you do, but hopefully not as well. That is true, yes? Can anyone even remember why they're called red-bellies? At least the Coeurlclaw Cutters made sense! Anyhow, distractions aside (I have a short attention span), the Sharpeyes can be found - and this will come as a complete shock - near the Redbelly Hive! So, that makes them bees, I guess?I've put coordinates below, but the map is easier to follow. On top of that, you can spy a small Redbelly campsite. Though, be warned, other classes of Redbelly may join in the "fun".
Do you remember dear Archer, those heady days of the Miteling? Well, scaled those up a few times, add a poisonous tail and you have a Banemite. Lucky you! These spider-come-scorpion creatures can be found by heading out of Fallgourd Float by the western exit and they are mostly in two "pockets", approximately
As if the crossing from Highbridge wasn't dangerous enough (the FATEs there feel like they're always on), a beautiful flock of blue birds waits for you on the other side. The aggressive Chasm Buzzard at least sticks with the others in one group, making them easier to pick off. It's just annoying that the journey from Camp Drybone is soooo long.
Until I went in search of a Sandskin Peiste or five, I had not realised quite how large an area they lived in. These tall, scaley lizards can be found North-West, North and North East of Little Ala Mhigo. The bonus is, if someone else is also attacking them for their own hunting log, you can just calmly go someplace else. You're not the only adventurer after all.
There are many similarly-named creatures in FFXIV, but this is the One True Ziz. Or so it likes to think, anyway. These can be found mostly below ground level in Alder Springs and are due South-West of the Banemites. I think I found one on ground-level, but the rest were below - at least when I was mapping them.
Whoopee. another semi-sentient mushroom-like enemy. Like the Faerie Funguar and the Funguar, the purple-capped Toadstool likes to pretend. If you look carefully, sometimes you can see it opening one eye while it's in "toadstool stance"! I believe one of the earlier justifications for clearing these out is the rate they spread their spores. Find your own excuse to destroy five creatures of nature, Archer!
Apkallu are cute birds that provide eggs and down for crafting and spit fish to interrupt you. Thankfully as an Archer (or maybe even Bard by now), that shouldn't massively affect you.I'm not sure why you need to kill some of them - maybe like seagulls in our own cities they've become pests. I mean, there are a lot them. Or maybe it's the fish-spitting, which is kinda gross.
Apkallu Location
You can find them on - and near - the road from Eastern to Lower La Noscea. However, there is also a convenient rock that a few always gather on. That makes it easy to clear this stage of the Conjurer Hunting Log Rank 3. The rock's coordinates are below.
From the beauty of the Twelveswood, to the deepest parts of the Sagolii desert then to more attractive sands of the Costa del Sol, the Archer Hunting Log Rank 3 makes you travel! But a certain Wandering Minstrel would argue that moving around is the nature of a Bard. That is your next step, in fact! I’ll be back to complete the Rank 4 guide soon. I already have eleven out of the sixteen targets in my database. So, stay tuned and enjoy your time in FFXIV!
I have been playing MMOs for about ten years and began writing guides to The Lord of the Rings Online in 2017. I've only been creating content about Final Fantasy XIV since 2022, but I am glad for the mix. My current games include LOTRO, FFXIV and the occasional Palia session too.
