Get your stabbers prepped for the FFXIV Rogue Hunting Log Rank 3. The Rogue class storyline nears its end and you’ll soon be able to train as a Ninja. But before then there are plenty of targets to continue your training with. There are loads more humanoids than previous ranks, so you’ll face all sorts of attacks. Let’s get to it.
When Can I Started Rank 3?
When
- You have cleared Rogue Hunting Log 2, and
- Are at least Level 20 in that class/job.
This Rank leads us up to Level 30 and unlocking the Ninja job. So it’s good to make sure we get the basics right before the really fancy stuff comes our way!
Black Bat
Number Required: 3

The Bramble Patch in the East Shroud is home to a number of different enemies, one of which is the Black Bat. They would not be so freaky if they did not have the glowing eyes! But they do.
There are loads of Black Bats for you here, too, so you don’t have to compete with other players for them. By that I mean, don’t fight other players for a dead bat or two, okay?
Nature Defends Itself?
Anyway, you may find some “odd” behaviour by the enemies in the area, because sometimes a boar will rush to defend a bat, or a bat attacks you if you strike a Diseased Treant. It’s nothing you can’t handle, adventurer, but it’s always good to be forewarned about these things.

Gall Gnat
Number Required: 3

Twelve only know how “gnats” – those small, buzzing, biting things became as huge as the Gall Gnat! Blame the Calamity, everyone does it. This type and the Giant Gnat (in case you thought this one wasn’t big) still creep me out.
My solution is not to look too closely at them. Which is hard to do if you’re a Rogue. Take them out from behind, with your eyes shut!
Where are Gall Gnats?
From the Hawthorn Hut in the East Shroud, head South-East towards Amarissaix’s Spire. Your ugly bugs are just South of there.
Involved in MSQ
In case Rogue is your first class, then you don’t have to hunt these as a task on its own. Per ConsoleGamesWiki, they feature in the Level 21 MSQ Quest Forest Friend.

Overgrown Ivy
Number Required: 3

The more you venture through FFXIV, the larger some things get – but you remain the same size! Seems a tad unfair. Overgrown Ivy are larger version of the Microchu seen elsewhere. And there’s a FATE nearby here with an enormous (overfed) one, too!
You’ll find Overgrown Ivies in…wait for it, the Nine Ivies part of the East Shroud. Though there are definitely more than Nine around here.

Bark Eft
Number Required: 3

The Bark Eft is one of various species of Eft across Eorzea and, as they do, you can find them in or near water. These murky green ones can be found in the tiny river that lies on the boundary of the Upper and Lower Paths in the South Shroud. The coordinates given are approximate, because you can find them anywhere along that river.
Thankfully, you don’t need many – so only defeat what you need so they’re around for the next person clearing their Hunting Log entry.

Redbelly Larcener
Number Required: 2

The Redbelly Larcener is part of the criminal Redbelly Wasps that do their criminal…stuff…in the Black Shroud. They’re hiding in plain sight, so feel free to use real stealth and take them down, my dear Rogue.
Redbelly Larcener Location
If neon lights existed outside of Garlemald, the Redbelly Hive would have them shining brightly.
While Breaching the Hive happens here, I found three Larceners outside the Hive (and not involved in the FATE).
Rogues only need two, so you should be fine.

South Shroud: Quarrymill
Redbelly Lookout
Number Required: 2

Unlike the Redbelly Sharpeyes, the Redbelly Lookout is not an Archer. He is however, is a “gladiator” of sorts, fiercely wielding an oversized kitchen knife and a chopping board as a shield.
They also don’t seem to care too much for stealth and subterfuge. You can locate them near their branded Redbelly Hive, just North/North-West of Quarrymill. You only need two, so don’t worry about the FATEs unless other players are around.

Antelope Stag
Number Required: 3

In one sense, it’s a real shame to have to hunt a creature like the Antelope Stag. It’s elegant and gentle to look at – a really beautiful FFXIV creature. But on the other hand, people need to safely traverse the Black Shroud, their horns make good crafting materials and maybe their meat is delicious? Elegant, gentle and tasty? Sorry if you’re a vegetarian. I am…not.
Anyway, you can find these slightly zebra-striped Antelopes North-East of Quarrymill.

River Yarzon
Number Required: 3

I bet you’ll never guess what kind of location you’ll find the River Yarzon in? A river! I knew I’d surprise you with that revelation. It’s slightly underwhelming given the Forest Yarzons are also found in a river. As are many others! But not all.
The particular river you’re looking for comes straight out of the South-Western wall of Quarrymill. It roughly continues in that direction too.

Corpse Brigade Firedancer
Number Required: 2

The Corpse Brigade Firedancer is a robed Thaumaturge who fights along with Corpse Brigade Knuckledancers in and around The Sepulchre in Southern Thanalan.
Unlike the fist-fighter, the Firedancer doesn’t even pretend to dance. Mis-sold by an enemy. Again.
Involved in FATEs
You can find them in FATEs, but honestly, Rogues only need two for their hunting log, and you’re not short on options. If you want to do the FATEs, then enjoy, they’re pretty rough inside the Sepulcre.

Corpse Brigade Knuckledancer
Number Required: 4

What a lovely club the Corpse Brigade are! Oh no, I confused them with something else… There are various classes in and around The Sepulcre in Southern Thanalan, but it’s the scowling, Corpse Brigade Knuckledancer Hyurs you’re after.
Thankfully you can clear this hunting log entry without going inside – assuming no other players are around. Various quests do bring you here, so be patient if others are nearby.
If you’re even vaguely on-level, inside is pretty much a death trap with the number of enemies in there.

Coeurlclaw Cutter
Number Required: 4

Did no one ever tell these Miqo’te that it’s cruel to cut the claws of cats? I’d’ve thought that was clear to that race of all of them! Anyhow, Coeurlclaw Cutters are the Gladiator-esque Miqo’te with a dagger and wooden shield.
Coeurlclaw Cutter Location
You can find them among other Coeurlclaw combatants outside of Takers Rot. And there are enough to be able to clear the log even if the nearby FATE is not on. You may have to wait for one or two to respawn depending on other players’ activity but that’s all.

Coeurlclaw Hunter
Number Required: 2

The Coeurlclaw Hunter can be found in the northern part of the South Shroud. Rogues will also be glad than the Coeurlclaw Cutters tend to be around the same areas too. Well, I say “glad”…
As this gang uses masks and mostly-identical hairstyles and outfits, your Hunters carry bows. It’s better to identify them that way. than littering the screen with nameplates.
The coordinates below mark the outskirts of Coeurlclaw territory, but it extends East and North-East into Takers’ Rot. The Hunter the deepest in is at X:30.4, Y:19.3.
An alternative location is X:15.5, Y:33, near the entrance to Eastern Thanalan.

Sandstone Golem
Number Required: 3

Appropriate to the climes of Thanalan, the Sandstone Golem wanders around some ancient ruins looking for unwary adventurers to “thunderclap”. If you were wondering about how powerful you are – your knives are enough to break apart animated rock. Oh the power of the Rogue!
Sandstone Golem Location
From Little Ala Mhigo in Southern Thanalan, head towards The Sunken Temple of Qarn.
Given their size, you don’t need help in finding them!

When Can I Start Hunting Log Rank 4?
Once:
- You have cleared Rank 3, and
- You are at least Level 30 as a Rogue or a Ninja.
TL;DR Ready for Ninja? The Rogue Hunting Log Rank 3 Helps You on the Way
It took me a while to get into the swing (pun not intended) of Rogue and, later, Ninja. But it turned out to be a really fun class to play. Admittedly, it aggravates my hand pain, but it’s worth it sometimes.
With the Rogue Log 3, we’re now over half way and I have just two more ranks to go, then I will have done all the combat classes! Until then, my knife swirling-jumping-stabbing-slashing friends…
Have fun in Eorzea, folks.
