Twelve only know how "gnats" - those small, buzzing, biting things became as huge as the Gall Gnat! Blame the Calamity, everyone does it. This type and the Giant Gnat (in case you thought this one wasn't big) still creep me out.
My solution is not to look too closely at them. Which is hard to do if you're a Rogue. Take them out from behind, with your eyes shut!
Where are Gall Gnats?
From the Hawthorn Hut in the East Shroud, head South-East towards Amarissaix's Spire
. Your ugly bugs are just South of there.

In case Rogue is your first class, then you don't have to hunt these as a task on its own. Per ConsoleGamesWiki, they feature in the Level 21 MSQ Quest Forest Friend.
