Have You Cleared Rank 4?
If you have not cleared Gladiator Rank 4, please go ahead and do that now. You won’t be able to start Rank 5 until that is cleared.
Are You Level 40+?
While you may have completed the previous difficulty rank, you may be under the level required for Rank 5. So to unlock Gladiator Hunting Log Rank 5, you’ll also need to be at least Level 40.
Gladiator Hunting Log Rank 5 Targets
Lammergeyer
Number Required: 2
These annoying birds come in various shapes and sizes in Eorzea and they’re always hyper-aggressive. Thankfully they’ve been (somehow) boxed into a corner of the Isles of Umbra. Not that I’m complaining!
Lammergeyer Location
Head South through the crevice before turning West (or right, if you’re facing South). Make your way around the bend and voilà! A whole herd of Lammergeyers! Flock…I meant flock.
Region/Area
Western La Noscea: Isles of UmbraNearest Aetheryte
Western La Noscea: AleportPreying Mantis
Number Required: 5
These gangly creatures have a strange beauty about them if you can get up-close, but they’re pretty vicious if you’re not overlevelled! I nearly said the Preying Mantis was average player-character height, forgetting that three of mine are only about 5ft in height! You still can’t miss them, even if you’re tall though!
Preying Mantis Location
You can find the Preying Mantis towards the Ship Graveyard on the Isles of Umbra. Depending on other players, there’s nearly always one in the crevace that leads to the beach too.

Number Required: 2
You’re looking for the Imperial soldiers who are Lancers for this Hunting Log entry. Apparently “Eques” in Latin means “knight, horse-rider”, the lance-wielding riders of Middle Age battles.
3rd Cohort Eques Location
While Imperials can be found in a couple of places in Larkscall, in the East Shroud (outside of the Sylph Beast Tribe quests), there is only one group you need. It’s a good job you only want two Eques…as there are only two. Waiting for a respawn in a really hostile location isn’t that fun either, it is?

These enormous wandering guardian trees are pretty hard to miss. Of course, reaching them without aggroing all the other nasties in the area is a totally different thing!
Old-growth Treant Location
From the Hawthorn Hut, head through Little Solace into Larkscall. Once you’re properly in there, the Treants are easy to find.

Number Required: 5
The animated skeletons of drowned seamen. Nothing freaky about that, right? And by “drowned”, I mean literally, rather than just consumed by a love for Leviathan.
Dead Man’s Moan Location
On the Isles of Umbra, head towards the beach, or just into the water at the Ship Graveyard. But you only need do this if the FATE mentioned below is not on.

Number Required: 2
I hate these twisted “plantlife” abominations. It’s so bad that I still hate The Aurum Vale even now. Get out of the way of their bad breath AoEs, else you get multiple debuffs. I’m not sure setting the Choco to heals stops them dying from it, so do try to turn the Morbol away from your companion, whether you’re a tank or not.
Morbol Location
The Morbols are found in Larkscall in the East Shroud. For any other reason, keep away from here. The challenge is not aggroing multiple Morbols…ew.

East Shroud: The Hawthorn HutMudpuppy
Number Required: 5
Think of mud. Now think of a puppy. What you’ve got here is nothing like what you just imagined! Just don’t get swallowed by the slippery, slimy critters that roam the Fogfens of Mor Dhona.
Mudpuppy Location
Head out the South-Western exit of Revenant’s Toll and past the camp of the same name. Hug the hills on the right (literally if that’s your thing) and you’ll find mudpuppies. Some also roam close to the water at The Tangle.

Number Required: 5
Does this serpent have two heads into one head? Or just more than two eyes? Either way, the Lake Cobras stand really tall…at least if you’re a short person like most of my characters.
Lake Cobra Location
Head out the eastern exit of Revenant’s Toll, then head to the southern coastline. The Lake Cobras are in ones or twos on the edge as you head towards the dungeon The Keeper of the Lake.
Coordinates
The first one I spotted was around X:32.0, Y:14.0, then just continue East along the edge of the map.

Number Required: 3
When I was growing up “Green Giant” was a brand of expensive sweetcorn/maize. Now it’s a target in the Hunting Log of a Gladiator or Paladin in FFXIV! Giant Luggers are pugilists. Don’t confuse them with the axe-wielding “Loggers”.
Giant Lugger Location
These can be found south of the Daniffen Pass in the Boulder Downs of the Coerthas Central Highlands. The nature of this area means the Luggers may be on different “levels”. If you’re trying to clear this Gladiator log entry before having unlocked flight, be prepared for a bit of running around.

The North Shroud one does bring you closer to the Boulder Downs, but you can equally use Camp Dragonhead (X:25.9, Y:16.7)

Number Required: 5
The Dullahan are decidedly shiny, enormous coats of armour with equally huge swords. Oh and they’re self-animated. Even the lore on this is patchy – with ConsoleGamesWiki saying it maybe the original wearer’s soul lingering on. The original wearers must have been Ancients, or at least giants!
Dullahan Location
Head North from Fallgourd Float, where you eventually come across some flights of steps here or there. You can find the Dullahan saying “it’s over I have the higher ground!”. Oh wait, that’s from a different lore base. My mistake.
Anyhow, these things are so huge that you really can’t miss them. Have fun, Gladiator (or Paladin)!

I am aware of the typo in the minimap. I’ll fix it soonish. Thanks.
Gigas Bhikkhu Location
The Gladiator Hunting Log Rank 5 page is unhelpful here. While yes, Northern Silvertear is correct, the Gigas Bikkhu occupy the tunnel leading to the Crystal Tower’s entrance. Two of them are found together at the passage’s end. Fair warning.

TL;DR Gladiator Hunting Log Complete! How about the GC one?
And with that, you’ve completed the FFXIV Gladiator Hunting Log Rank 5! Well done. I hope my guides were helpful, even if it was just for one or two elusive mobs. Maybe soon I can embark on the Grand Company ones, but I have a ton of other classes’ logs to clear first. Thankfully there’s crossover and overlaps between different FFXIV Hunting Logs, so the more I do, the quicker I’ll be able to do them. Stay tunes, and enjoy FFXIV folks.
