Overgrown Ivy
Number Required: 4The more you venture through FFXIV, the larger some things get - but you remain the same size! Seems a tad unfair. Overgrown Ivy are larger version of the Microchu seen elsewhere. And there's a FATE nearby here with an enormous (overfed) one, too! You'll find Overgrown Ivies in...wait for it, the Nine Ivies part of the East Shroud. Though there are definitely more than Nine around here.

Lead Coblyn
Number Required: 4These rock-munching critters can be found in the tunnel between Vesper Bay and Cape Westwind further North. The Lead Coblyn is just another variety of the many found in Eorzea and other regions.
Lead Coblyn Location
Remember the Bloated Bogy from Gladiator Rank 2 (and Pugilist and Thaumaturge)? It's the same tunnel - just a bit deeper in.Involved in FATE

Kedtrap
Number Required: 4Yay, another semi-sentient plant. Kedtraps are huge, moving "flowers" that spit seeds at you. It's so nice to know the Twelveswood is so calm and tranquil. Also, have you seen an actual Ked, yet? If anything these blooms would be trapped by the Keds, not vice versa!
Kedtrap Location
These can be picked off individually, so I've marked a few dots on the map. However, the easiest way to clear it is if the FATE Kedtraps FATE" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Kickin' it with the Kedtraps is on.Region/Area

Coeurl Pup
Number Required: 4You know that cute little Coeurl Kitten minion you get really early on in FFXIV? Well, early-ish anyway. That kitten becomes a Coeurl Pup (no confusion there). Well I hope your sofa or garden is big for when kitty grows up!
Coeurl Pup Location
You can find the pups at Fool Falls in Upper La Noscea - you know, on the island with no Aetheryte. There are a few pups here, but also some full-grown ones. Just giving you a heads up.Involved in FATE

Antelope Stag
Number Required: 4In one sense, it's a real shame to have to hunt a creature like the Antelope Stag. It's elegant and gentle to look at - a really beautiful FFXIV creature. But on the other hand, people need to safely traverse the Black Shroud, their horns make good crafting materials and maybe their meat is delicious? Elegant, gentle and tasty? Sorry if you're a vegetarian. I am...not!
Anyway, you can find these slightly zebra-striped Antelopes North-East of Quarrymill.

Balloon
Number Required: 4Balloons are self-powering, self-detonating balls of flaming fury. The related Bomb is more representative, I think!Unfortunately, since Arcanist/Summoner was completely overhauled, there's no way to prevent them from flying over your head to explode. Just get ready to move if you don't DPS-it down quickly.
Balloon Location
You can find these floating around West of Fallgourd Float in the North Shroud. They mingle with Banemites, which is great if you need Diremite Web to make Velveteen. Not so great otherwise.Involved in Quest

North Shroud: Fallgourd FloatChasm Buzzard
Number Required: 2As if the crossing from Highbridge wasn't dangerous enough (the FATEs there feel like they're always on), a beautiful flock of blue birds waits for you on the other side. The aggressive Chasm Buzzard at least sticks with the others in one group, making them easier to pick off. It's just annoying that the journey from Camp Drybone is soooo long.

Axe Beak
Number Required: 4The Axe Beak is one of a wide selection of Ziz-like creatures. They go by other names like Giant Pelican too. They all have the axe-shaped bill, but this one claims it for its name!
Axe Beak Location
They are in the really annoying far-flung section of Eastern Thanalan. It may be quicker to ride or fly from Camp Tranquil in the South Shroud, than to teleport to Camp Drybone and still have a long ride.Involved in FATE

Clay Golem
Number Required: 4The Clay Golem is more like to make pottery out of you than the other way around! Just steer clear of its massive Plaincracker attack, then reduce it to rubble. On four of them.
Clay Golem Location
These are dotted around in ones and twos South and West of Fallgourd Float. But bear in mind Alder Springs has layers/levels to it. The golems are usually on the lowest of the levels near the dots I've put on the minimap.Region/Area

North Shroud: Fallgourd FloatSandstone Golem
Number Required: 2Appropriate to the climes of Thanalan, the Sandstone Golem wanders around some ancient ruins looking for unwary adventurers to "thunderclap". Like most golems, its name tells you the type of material it's made out of (though the Crater Golem is one exception I can think of).
Sandstone Golem Location
Head out of Little Ala Mhigo in Southern Thanalan, and towards the entrance for The Sunken Temple of Qarn dungeon. Some of them are on the path, others to either side. If you're vaguely on-level, they might find you first - though they're hardly difficult to spot!Region/Area

Brood Ziz
Number Required: 4Yet another type of Ziz, the Brood Ziz looks pretty much like all the others. Except that this one roams the decidely dodgy part of the Central Shroud, Sorrel Haven. All the creatures are kinda bunched together, making them easy pickings for your Arcanist Hunting Log.If you're coming from Bentbranch, up the fallen tree, they're almost immediately on the left at the top.

Lindwurm
Number Required: 4If you're thinking that Lindwurms look a lot like Velociraptors, then you'd be correct! These ones inhabit the higher-level portion of the Central Shroud. I've put dots on the mini-map, but that's incomplete, because another player was taking some down at the time. You can also harvest Raptor Skins for Leatherworker crafting from a Lindwurm too.

When Can I Start Hunting Log Rank 4?
Once:
- You have cleared Rank 3, and
- You are at least Level 30 as an Arcanist.
TL;DR Pound Your Way to Summoner with the Arcanist Hunting Log Rank 3
It won’t be difficult to be level 30 at the end of the Rank 3 Log, even if this isn’t your main class. But now you have the foundations in place you can unlock Summoner and, if you want to, Scholar. Both those classes count as “Arcanist Experience”, so you can progress the Hunting Log with both. Play whichever you find the most interesting.
Rank 4 is in the works, and I’ll update this guide when it’s completed. In the meantime, please do check out my other FFXIV Hunting Log Guides. Have fun in Eorzea, friends.
