FFXIV The Rising 2023 Event

FFXIV The Rising 2023 Event Guide | FF14

First we had the Phoenix Risers during the Moonfire Faire and now the theme continues into The Rising 2023. And, with this year being the 10th Anniversary of A Realm Reborn, it seems that FFXIV are celebrating with a bang – possibly literally! Let’s take a look.

When Is the Rising 2023?

It runs from August 27th at Midnight PDT until the Patch 6.5 launches. This coincides with the same period for the 10th Anniversary Moogle Treasure Trove.

Who Can Take Part?

The quest is Level 15, so you can do it at that level and above. If you’re new to FFXIV and started in Gridania or Limsa Lominsa, you’ll need to have your “Envoy” quest either done, or in your quest log.

That is because the quest is in Ul’dah.

How to Start the Event

If you’re at least level 15 and can travel to Ul’dah then you’re good to go!

Get to Ul’dah

If you’ve not been before, you can take the Airship from your City State.

From there, you’ll need to head to the Aetheryte Plaza.

Find the Quest-giver

The quest Normal Quest Siblings Rising is available from Kipih Jakkya. This Miqo’te often features in FFXIV events.

From Ul’dah’s Aetheryte Plaza, head South-East and cross over the road. She’s just near the Sapphire Avenue Exchange.

From that point, follow the story. Usually there’s a song to read from the Wandering Minstrel, but there’s always a really touching message.

Here are a few non-spoilery shots from Siblings Rising.

New Louisoix Questline

Have You Done the Coils?

I have only just recently completed the storyline about Archon Louisoix from the Coils of Bahamut Raid of A Realm Reborn. If you haven’t yet done it, I can highly recommend it purely for the story.

It’s not a prerequisite, though.

Pick Up the Quest

Nanaji in Ul'dah for the new Louisoix Story Quest

For The Rising, FFXIV have brought in a new permanent questline about the Archon. Speak to Nanaji in Ul’dah (X:8.9 Y:9.2).

Requirements

Although it was introduced during The Rising 2023, it will stay after the event is over. The prerequisites per the official blogExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) are:

  • A Disciple of War or Magic at Level 50
  • Completion of the Main Scenario Quest “The Ultimate Weapon” MSQ

Other Things to Do

I don’t want to over-use the official images – so I’ll add my own, probably on Monday, but here are a couple of other things you can do:

Messages to Survivors

As well as the story, FFXIV have put up a monument of sorts that is covered in messages that “someone wrote to those who survived the Seventh Umbral Calamity”.

Meaningful communiqués are what mark the Rising out from other events. This isn’t a hit-and-run one – not if you engage with it.

A New Mini-Game

Mini-games are normally played from the toybox in an inn-room. And, having tried a few in the past – I generally suck at them! But the event’s one is a bit different:

For The Rising, FF14 have given us Kupo Kupo Adventure, one which, you’ll be unsurprised to know, features a Moogle.

To play the mini-game speak to NPCs with the 10th Anniversary icon over their heads. You can also play it from the comfort of an Inn Room.

The Rising 2023 Rewards

This is where I show my inexperience with other games in the Final Fantasy series. I saw on social media, some people saying the mount reward – or rather how it functions – is a link to other FF title. Either way, we’re looking at a really neat reward.

Mount: Rising Phoenix

Depending on your browser, you may need to press/click twice above to get the video to load.

This is not a mount. Well, it is, but you don’t mount it. You become it. Yep, the Warriors of Light become Phoenixes. What the heck is the plural of Phoenix?!

I don’t want to spoil the Louisoix story from the Dalamud raid for newer players. But please do either before running The Rising Event or shortly afterwards.

Deco: The Rising Advertisement

Get some of the artwork from the event to put up on the wall of your home. I like being able to use artwork in this way – it honours the artist. I do have one such poster in my apartment, but wall space is a tad tight!

Orchestrion Rolls

Speak to a Rising vendor and pick up:

  • The Land Reborn Orchestrion Roll
  • Pom from the Heavens Orchestrion Roll

Nymeia Potpourri

You get 10 of these at the same time as your Phoenix. They are really pretty – though the fact that I vividly remember first seeing these and realising that was two years ago is a bit distressing!

TL;DR Take Part in a Special FFXIV Rising Event in 2023

The Rising is more than just an event, I think. It has a way of taking you deeper into the writing and history of Final Fantasy XIV. Even the Mosaic Art SweepstakeExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) is about “reflecting on your journey”.

So come along to Ul’dah and take your time engaging with the story, reading a few messages and then, if transformation is your “thing”, become a Phoenix. This is a fantasy world, after all. I’ll update images on Monday, probably, as I take Sunday off trying to be productive.

Have fun!
