I hope you’re ready for more punching, kicking and clawing goodness, because here’s the FFXIV Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 2 Guide! All of your targets are still in Thanalan, but across various regions, and include an odd assortment of enemies. Here you can find where your Hunting Log targets are, including any FATEs that may help you. So, let’s get cracking (skulls?).
When Can I Start Pugilist Rank 2?
When:
- You’ve cleared FFXIV Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 1 and
- You are at least Level 10 in that class/job.
So, let’s take a look at the enemies you face for your second round of Hunting Log targets. Just a heads up – under Rank 10 are three targets. On my guide they appear in alphabetical order, rather than those in your in-game log.
Bomb
Number Required: 4

That said, if you started the MSQ in Ul’dah, then you will be sent to Copperbell Mines anyway, so you can just clear them out while you queue for the dungeon!

Cochineal Cactuar
Number Required: 4

A relative of the Cactuar is the Cochineal variety. They can sometimes be found among the lower ones, so follow the level or the little symbol floating over their…”heads”?
Cochineal Cactuar can be found South East of Black Brush Station. The marker on the following map matches the earlier screenshot. There, conveniently, are three Cactuar just waiting to have their bugs spilled all over. Enjoy that thought.

Antling Sentry
Number Required: 4

Once you’ve seen one Antling, you’ve seen ’em all. right? Well, kinda. This one’s just like the Antling Soldier from the Gladiator Hunting Log 1 but… bigger.
You can find an Antling Sentry – along with many more, North-West of Black Brush Station, on the way to the Cutter’s Cry dungeon.

Giant Tortoise
Number Required: 4

Right, unlike most items on your Hunting Log so far, you won’t find a nice neat pack of two or three of these in one place. The Giant Tortoise roams alone, or at least a comfortable distance from another. Usually.
You can punch up all four Giant Tortoises either in Central or Western Thanalan. In both cases, you need not stray far from Ul’dah. One dot on the minimap here may be one or two tortoises, depending on how they’re roaming.

Arbor Buzzard (Thanalan)
Number Required: 2

I was just about to use my other information from other logs that have the Arbor Buzzard in them. Then I realised there were some in Thanalan, not just in the Black Shroud!
If Pugilist is your first class, that would have been… unhelpful! Your Buzzards are in Western Thanalan on the way to Vesper Bay from the Horizon Aetheryte. And, unlike your previous Nesting Buzzards are aggressive.
There are loads of them too, it’s almost a shame that you only need two for your Hunting Log!

Western Thanalan: Horizon
Scaphite
Number Required: 2

Scaphites are a relative of the Uragnite creatures.
They can be found in the water in the Footfalls between Horizon and Vesper Bay.
If you’re doing the MSQ roughly on-level and you’ve cleared Rank 1, then the MSQ quest Compulsory Catering will clear the Scaphite part of your Hunting Log.
Presuming you run it as a Pugilist of course!

Thickshell
Number Required: 2

I bet you can’t guess what kind of protection this blue crab has, can you? Indeed, it has a Thickshell! But being armed with your fists and whatever weapon you have attached to them, clearing them from your Hunting Log should be easy!
There are plenty of these on the map. Head West from Horizon, and before you hit the tunnel leading to Vesper bay, turn left/South West. This is in the direction of Crescent Cove. Just an FYI – if you’re even vaguely on-level there are also the hyper-aggressive Arbor Buzzards flying around. It’s nothing you can’t handle, though!

Just to warn you that Bubble Trouble spawns around here, so you could get caught up in it while hunting.

Tuco-Tuco
Number Required: 4

These little critters seem to be a cross between a giant mole and a porcupine. A molecupine? No, that’s why I’m happy FFXIV have been inventive and called them Tuco-Tuco!
You can find quite a few of these in the far West of Eastern Thanalan, just before you hit the exit that takes you to Central Thanalan.

Myotragus Nanny
Number Required: 4

Roaming East of Camp Drybone, the Myotragus Nanny is just a little shorter than the Billy goats. Sometimes you’ll see Nannies with Billies, and sometimes not. All you need to know is that both are in plentiful supply, so I’ve marked a few locations on the map.
They seem to respawn pretty quickly too, so if another player is taking them out, you won’t need to wait long.

Blowfly Swarm
Number Required: 4

Yay for more bee-like flies or fly-like bees. Blowfly Swarms are delightfully dedicated to areas where dead things are.
With the Church of Saint Adama Landama being inundated with more to bury than the grounds were originally created for, it’s no wonder these pests are around.
Show them a bit of your own “buzz” and tick this off your Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 2 list. Oh, and do some good for the locals in the process.

Vandalous Imp
Number Required: 4

Now the MSQ absolutely brings you here, regardless of which City-State you began your FFXIV adventure. But naturally, those clearing the Pugilist Hunting Logs aren’t just those at the lower end of the MSQ.
Vandalous Imps can be found on the route to the Invisible City in Eastern Thanalan. Rotting Nobles can also be found once you go inside the walls of the Invisible City.

Bloated Bogy
Number Required: 2

When I was growing up “bogy” meant something completely different! Apparently in FFXIV, Bogies are akin to restless spirits. So, clearing another Pugilist Hunting Log entry, is just ushering them into the next life. You’re doing them a favour, really!
You’ll find your Bloated Bogy in a tunnel full of the things, which is between Vesper Bay and Cape Westwind in Western Thanalan.

Rotting Corpse
Number Required: 2

Thankfully the Undead are a relatively minor part of FFXIV, all the same it’s best not to look too closely at the artwork here.
When you’re looking for a Rotting Corpse, they are the spear-wielding ones, rather than the Thaumaturge Rotting Nobles. Take out three of the correct ones then run, get the heck outta there!

Rotting Noble
Number Required: 2

Once you have dispatched your Vandalous Imp targets, continue North and enter the Invisible City.
There are other delightful Rotting Corpses here, but you want the Rotting Noble enemies. These are the Thaumaturge Casters, not Lancers.
There are also not many of these around. Other quests (including part of the and the ARR Beast Tribe Alliance quests!) bring you here even, if you’re not proactively trying to clear your hunting log. So, there’s a good chance other players will be here too. Just be considerate of them, and come back later if needs be.

When Can I Start Hunting Log Rank 3?
Once:
- You have cleared Rank 2, and
- You are at least Level 20 as a Pugilist.
TL;DR Punch and Kick Your Way Through Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 2
Shelled, Spined, Buzzing, Horned – it matters not. Even the undead and voidsent don’t stand in your way. By now, you should be grasping the basics of Pugilist. It’s a bit more complicated than some other classes as you need to remember certain skill chains, but it’s very much a fun one to try. I hope this Pugilist Hunting Log Rank 2 guide was useful and I’ll see you soon for Rank 3!
And if you’re looking for other FFXIV Hunting Logs, take a look! I still have work to do on them, but a lot of enemies can now be found by searching my site. Enjoy!
