FFXIV The Hunt for Mendacity

This is a past version of the Hunt. For the current, or most recent one FFXIV Current Moogle Treasure Trove.

FFXIV Moogle Tomestone Event 2023 - The Hunt for Mendacity - Irregular Tomestones of Mendacity

The Hunt for Mendacity was the first Moogle Treasure Trove of 2023. As usual, we had a wide array of rewards from mounts to gear, hairstyles to minions. I’ve kept this “back copy” so you can browse pictures and videos of past rewards if you want to. I’ve stripped out much of the “guide” part to avoid repetition with the current event.

Which Duties Counted?

While the official page lists them in order of the number of Tomestones, I’m switching to a different layout. The reason is that lower-level characters and players can see more easily which duties they qualify for.

Using Duty Finder

While I’ve given a grouped list below, it’s made easier for you in Duty Finder. If a particular one has a disembodied Moogle head next to it then you know it qualifies for the Moogle Treasure Trove. Not at all creepy.

Anyway, you can see in the list below how many Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity Irregular Tomestones of Creation you get for each duty. I’ve used an icon rather than repeat the name of the tomestone over and over, because, well, that’s boring. Enjoy!

PvP

As I have done nearly all of the above duties at least once but have no experience of PvP, I’ll just list these with links to (hopefully) useful resources.

The official page says PvP will award 3 or 5 Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity Irregular Iomestones of Mendacity. Is that 3 if you lose but 5 if you win? Either way, the relevant PvP duties are:

Hunt for Mendacity on Low-Level Characters

Despite the plethora of raids in this Moogle Event, there are still different dungeons that qualify. So, whether you’re leveling a class/job or progressing your A Realm Reborn relic weapon, you can earn Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity Irregular Tomestones of Mendacity at the same time.

What I would say is focus on rewards you cannot acquire another way. If you see the mounts section under Rewards, some of those have alternative methods, such as Tribal quests.

The rewards available for each Moogle Treasure Trove changes/rotates. Often new items are added, and then others from previous hunts are included too.

Itinerant Moogle Locations

The barter vendor for these events are Itinerant Moogles. They used to only be active during Treasure Troves, but they’ve been a permanent feature for quite some time now. You can find itinerant Moogles in many places.

Turning in Old Tomestones

If you have previous events’ tomestones hanging around in storage, you may be able to exchange them at the Itinerate Moogles. For example, during The Hunt for Mendacity, you can turn in Irregular Tomestone of Creation Irregular Tomestones of Creation.

I’ve included a tab/section of last year’s Creation rewards below.

Moogle Treasure Trove Rewards

Irregular Tomestones of Mendacity

As per last time, I’ll dump the list here for now. I will add images to rewards I already own before it starts and will have to add the others as I earn them – or can get screenshots of them.

To see them in tomestone reward order…

I have grouped them by type rather than in price, as I find that more logical. But, if you prefer it, the official siteExternal Link (Opens in New Window/Tab) has them in price order from most to least expensive.

Glamouring Items

These are the Tomestone rewards that are “pure” glamours – i.e. not gear. The event has only just started, and I don’t own either item. If I manage to get the Porxie ones, I’ll update the shot here – just, for me, mounts come first!

Porxie Earrings – Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity×100

Qiqirn Earrings – Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity×30

Mounts

I’m slowly progressing in obtaining the mounts, but a huge thanks to my FC friend for providing shots of the Ixion mount.

Decorations

Here are all the decorations available during the Moogle Event. All are craftable, too, by the way.

If you want to get them from the Itinerate Moogle, then each one costs 20×Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity.

Hairstyle

There is one hair style available for Irregular Tomestones of Mandacity: Modern Aesthetics – Gyr Abanian Plait.

It costs 50×Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity

I somehow managed to take screenshots of every angle…except the one with the actual plait! I have finally fixed this:

Bonewicca Gear

All these pieces can drop from The Swallow’s Compass, but if you don’t want to run it multiple times and hope you win the rolls, they’re here for Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity Irregular Tomestones of Mendacity!

I hope to add other races/genders but the event started 11 hours ago, so I’d like to get in and earn some Tomestones now!

Insist Emote

The item Ballroom Etiquette – Emphatic Eludidation costs 30×Irregular Tomestone of Mendacity and unlocks the /insist emote.

Here’s the video for you:

Irregular Tomestones of Creation

Here are the rewards that were available for Irregular Tomestones of Creation Irregular Tomestone of Creation. I will check how many of these are still available on day one of the April 2023 event.

TL;DR Dive In and Enjoy the first Moogle Treasure Trove 2023

Part of me wonders if they’ve put this Moogle Tomestone Event in so people can get their Endwalker relics to the current level before the next stage comes out in 6.4! It’s totally possible, but some of us (*cough*) need an incentive to run some of the group instances. Thankfully, whether you’re fairly new to Final Fantasy XIV, leveling another class/job, or doing Endgame stuff, there’s something for everyone. Whatever suits you, remember enjoy the Moogle Tomestone Event – The Hunt for Mendacity until patch 6.4! And remember to read the official event page too.
