The FFXIV Archer Hunting Log Rank 4 is for levels 30+ at which point you’re probably a Bard by now. Well, it’s time to take your musical talents and go kill things softly with your songs. Actually, maybe not softly, because you do need to defeat them before they defeat you! As per usual, I’ve included info on all your targets. Some have more than one map, or additional screenshots if they span a larger area, or are tricky in some way. Okay, my waffling won’t help you clear that log, so let’s get on with it, shall we?
One giant, freaky eyeball...with wings, a mouth and tongue. Nothing unusual then!
Floating Eye Location
These are found in the Sorrel Haven, Central Shroud. More precisely, the Floating Eyes are...floating, well "flying" around the grounds of Haukke Manor. There's nearly always one just outside the gate but there are plenty beyond it.
These delightful things slither around the Sagolii Desert ready to attack anyone who gets too close. Don't think being a Warrior of Light will stop them. Thankfully you get rewarded for putting down five Sandworms as an Archer.
Sandworm Location
These are found out in Southern Thanalan, Sagolii Desert, unless the FATEs at Forgotten Springs are on. They do move around a bit, so I've marked a few locations on the map where I found them. You may need to roam a little, especially if others are also clearing that part of their hunting log. Example coords are X:16.5, Y:33.4 and X: 15.6 Y: 35.3 among other places.
Now, where have we seen somethign like a Giant Pelican before? Oh yes, back in Archer Hunting Log Rank 3. This Rank 4 target is just like a Ziz, but bluer. And this species is found in Eastern La Noscea, on the Wineport island.
These "daddy-longlegs" critters get everywhere, don't they? As with many pests, Russet Yarzons are dead easy to find, so easy to make dead. Once you reach Forgotten Spring, head out the southern gate towards the Sagolii Desert and turn right. There are plenty of them.
Yet more explosive fun with these levitating voidsent. Smoke Bombs are found around Byregot's Strike in the middle of the Sagolii Desert. There is a side quest there that involves taking down some of these, so you could kill two bombs with one stone...wait, that doesn't work.Just defeat them in your usual way!
Don't let their fluff and long, fuzzy ears (those are their ears, right?) deceive you, Spriggans can be vicious. They love shiny rocks and hate anyone trying to prevent them from taking the shiny rocks. You'll find find a Spriggan not at all difficult because they can be found at the obviously-named Spriggan Dig in the Central Shroud! They are aggressive, so if you're within a few levels, expect them to attack first. Also...there are loads!
How to describe the Bloodshore Bell? It's kind of like a floating, solid jellyfish, but with a more helmet-looking head. Maybe. It's made to look like it has teeth and two of its tenticles are forward facing, in a sort of Darth Sidious, floppy hand stance.
But you will have no problem find them. There are loads on the beach North of the Costa del Sol Aethyrite. Just be wary of their AoE, which gives you an interrupt debuff.
"In the jungle, the mighty jungle the coeurl sleeps tonight!". Well no, they don't actually. These truly beautiful creatures stalk Eastern La Noscea daring anyone who wishes to turn their fur into swimwear. Or any other kinds of clothes. Aaaaanyway, the Jungle Coeurl species can be found not too far from the Giant Pelicans. The only thing to watch out for is their AoE "Charged Whiskers" attack, which gives you the interrupting debuff.
At the very southern edge of the Sagolii desert, you won't just find one Fallen Pikeman, but a whole herd of them! Thankfully, if you're clearing the Archer Hunting Log, there are more than the required four here. The Pikemen are lancers and make up the majority of the undead in this area.Just head to the Sagolii and travel immediately due South of Byrgot's Strike. I think the start of the Manderville storyline brings you here, too.
FFXIV sure love getting you to take down squawky birds! There are many birds like the Highland Condor (such as the Northern Vulture), but only this one counts for the Hunting Log Rank 4. If you head westward in Outer La Noscea towards the Floating City of Nym, hug the cliff edge on your left (literally if you wish!), you'll find plenty if Condors. You only need two, though.
Ringtail with...well, it's tail!" title="Full-length Ringtail with...well, it's tail!" width="128" height="250" class="alignright size-medium wp-image-28874"/>Hide your Mun-Tuy beans, the Opo-opo's distant cousin, the Ringtail, is here! Okay, these ones probably don't care much for Mun-Tuy beans, but they throw things at you in the same way. I know this will amaze you, but their tail... has rings around it! I knew you'd be surprised. The Ringtails can be found really easily. Just head to Outer La Noscea and into the northern dead end of The Long Climb. The larger pack is on an outcrop, or something similar. On the off-chance you are hunting yours the same time as another player, you can find a few more closer to the Hermit's Hovel.
Salamanders can be found in the Bronze Lake area of Upper La Noscea. More specifically on the water's edge as you head towards The Wanderer's Palace. You'll have no trouble spotting these flubbery giant critters either!
As if battling the element (lowercase 'e') of cold was not enough, you also have to fight the Element (uppercase 'E') of Ice directly too. Thankfully there are loads of Ice Sprites to hunt down, but you need only pick off five. I've put the approximate areas you can hunt in the minimaps here. One dot does not necessarily mean one Sprite either.
Feral Crocs have really weird, empty eye sockets and an even stranger snappy mouth. They roam the area between Camp Dragonhead and the Obervatorium in Coerthas Central Highlands. While I have put some locations on the map here, there are likely more to be found too. Be considerate if others also seem to be killing a lot of them and wait for respawn if necessary.
These dragon-esque warped Voidsent plague Witchdrop. Send them back to where they belong would you?
Vodoriga Location
These are found at Witchdrop, just North East of Camp Dragonhead. You'll have to actually descend to the foot of it too. I suggest finding the nice, easy path down rather than jumping down. Unless you want to find out if you're a Dragon or whether Halone is there to welcome you. Your choice, I guess.
If you thought you were done gazing into the big ugly mouths of Feral Crocs, a big ugly surprise awaits you! The Baritine Croc is a heavier-looking variety, with greenish fur.
TL;DR Desert to Snow and Everything in Between: the Archer Hunting Log Rank 4
You really have hit the extremes of climates this time around. Who knows, maybe you’ll get dust storms in the Sagolii, snow storms in Coerthas and mist in the Black Shroud, too! And now you’re just one rank away from completing this class’ logs too. So that’s a wrap for the Archer Hunting Log Rank 4, I’ll see you soon, my Bard friend, for Rank 5. Enjoy your time in FF14!
I have been playing MMOs for about ten years and began writing guides to The Lord of the Rings Online in 2017. I've only been creating content about Final Fantasy XIV since 2022, but I am glad for the mix. My current games include LOTRO, FFXIV and the occasional Palia session too.
