When Does Valentione’s Day Start?
On Wednesday, February 1st 2023 at 8am (UK-Time) and ends on Wednesday, February 15th 2023 at 2.59pm (UK Time)
It means the event ends the day after the actual Valentine’s Day, at least in the UK!
Who Can Take Part?
Any character who is Level 15 and has completed the MSQ quest

Starting Valentione’s Day 2023
As usual, you need to head to New Gridania and seek out Lisette de Valentione at Mih Khetto’s Ampitheatre.

The quest you’re looking for is 
Suited for Affection.
Suited for Affection
As always, the mechanics of the questline aren’t difficult. And, as usual, I won’t give any spoilers of the story. But it revolves around balancing caring about others and looking after yourself.
Astrid and Emilie are the main characters this year as they aim to give Lisette a year off, for once. But they end up on a journey of self-discovery in the process. It is definitely worth taking in the whole thing on one or two runs (if you have multiple characters).
The After-Story Event
After you have completed the main story, you can speak with Emilie for the “main event”. This is a series of three cutscenes where characters from Gridania speak about their love. While one is about “classic” love, the other two talk about love of things, or places or experiences.
And it’s always worth experiencing these for yourself. One particularly made me smile.
Seasonal Instance: Valentione’s Ceremony
Group content normally makes me nervous, especially if I have a freak and queue as tank. But at this event, you unlock the Valentione’s Ceremony, which consists of two trials – and both terrify me. They are for a party of two people, but if you enter alone, someone will be matched with you. This is what’s involved for the “Trials of the Moon”:
Til Mog Do Us Part
- Go through an obstacle-filled maze.
- Each player has their own path.
- You are joined by a “magical chain”.
- Straying too far from each other drains the Affinity bar.
- So does being attacked by Moogles.
- If you run out of Affinity you fail the instance.
Cards Beat as One
- This is a test of teamwork and memory.
- 12 Cards are dealt.
- Couples must work together to uncover matching pairs.
- Successes/Mistakes affect an “Affinity Rating”.
I will have to /psych myself to do this. Or rope a friend into doing it.
Rewards 2023
This year’s event sees new glamours, an emote and a new housing decoration. These shots are from the official Lodestone post, but I will replace them all with my own on day one.
Valentione’s Glamours
The first thing to say is that the glamour reward you receive depends on your character’s gender. My main female Miqo’te isn’t really a dress-wearer, so I got excited with the new jacket, but that is gender-locked. I will need to run the event on at least two characters anyway so you can see what they look like.

This is the set granted to characters that are female at the time. I have shown it here on a Female Miqo’te and Female Lalafell

Also Available Separately
In case you want to acquire copies of the glamours, you can do so from the House Valentione Maid. If you want the glamours for the opposite gender whenever SE unlock it, do so now while it’s not for real money. Each item costs 
1,000. Another case might be if you’re considering using a Fantasia to alter the gender of your character.
You get a warning saying you will never be able to equip this but FF14 have unlocked outfits before, so I will be buying the jacket on my female characters on the off-chance.

You can acquire Ballroom Etiquette – Valentione’s Dangers from the House Valentione Maid vendor for 2,500.
Housing Decoration

You can acquire the Valentione’s Heart Desk from the House Valentione Maid vendor for 2,000.

As there often are, you can acquire consumable items. Each Prismatic Heart costs 8

And there we go – apart from trying to work up the courage to play the instances with another player, that’s everything from this year’s event! That’s quite a lot. But I hope this guide has helped you to check ahead as to which characters to run it on. Remember to pick up both glamour sets in case FFXIV remove the gender lock in the future – or if you might use a Fantasia.
