LOTRO Shoulder Cosmetics

LOTRO Shoulder Cosmetics from Festivals and Events

Unlike other gear slots, LOTRO Shoulder Cosmetics are much smaller in number . However that does not mean you have few choices. Take a look, and see which shoulder coverings best suit your next LOTRO outfit creation.

What Kinds of Shoulder Cosmetics Are Here?

I have had to invent groupings as many aren’t obvious. What I’ve created are: Pauldrons, Scarves, Shoulder Pads and Shoulder Wraps.

What’s Not Here?

I have yet to enter all the items I own from Yule or Spring Festival, but in terms of events, many of the rest are below.

For those two events, I’ve provided image galleries. These will remain in place until I’ve had a chance to complete the data entry for them. Work to add Yule Festival items will begin from 21st November, after I’ve had a chance to settle into LOTRO Before the Shadow posts.

Such-and-such Event Is Not Listed!

More “minor” events do not have their own tab. By that I mean either events that are rarely run (such as Ill Omens) or where the cosmetics almost never change (such as Buried Treasure).

However, if those events have shoulder cosmetics, then their items are on this page. See the “All” tab.

How to Use this Tool

As with the head cosmetics, I’ve organised the outfit items here by festival/event, but also included a “Style” tab or section. This has the key groupings in it.

If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, see the “All Tab”, but be patient as the images load, please! I’ve worked a lot to reduce load time, so many pictures will download when you reach them on the page.

Shoulder Item Style

Here are my invented groups of LOTRO shoulder cosmetics. Until I’ve added the Yule and Spring ones, however, this tab will be incomplete. See their relevant tab (or section) to browse what’s available at those events.

Shoulder Pads

I nearly made “mantle” a group here. But that word appears to be used for different styles of shoulder coverings. So I made “shoulder pads” instead. Items that cover the area, but aren’t obviously armoured or don’t really fall into the other categories.

Pauldrons

Pauldrons are heavy or platemail armour, designed I suppose, to make you look larger when running into your enemies. And protect your shoulders when you run…into your enemies. What effect this has on your character’s appearance seems to be wildly different, depending on your race and gender. So make good use of your Fitting Room.

Scarves

I’ve decided there aren’t enough of these. I know, I’m just one person, but that’s my opinion! Scarves can be practical but as with the Ascot Scarf below, they can also be stylish. Also, there’s clearly scope for cosmetic necklaces of some description using the shoulder gear slot.

I only began to properly start the Festival Cosmetics database from Yule Festival in 2021. My aim is to add what Yule items I have before the 2022 event.

TL;DR Shoulder the Burden of Style in LOTRO

I’ve often found it difficult, choosing the right LOTRO Shoulder Cosmetics to use. Some are decorative, some are practical and others can make you look enormously broad-shouldered even for a heavily-armed guardian! I find testing shoulder items at the same time as upper body cosmetics and keeping the Fitting Room open works really well. If you can, use a skin like I’ve featured on my LOTRO Plugins and Addons page, so that your Fitting Room is larger. Enjoy playing dress-up in Middle-Earth!
