I don’t normally do news-y style posts, but LOTRO players rejoice! Everyone knows that due to the CoVid outbreak, life has become challenging. More and more people will be at home – and unlike myself where self-isolation is a lifestyle choice, this is strange for most of you.
Online service providers have had to consider how to respond – and Standing Stone Games, makers of The Lord of the Rings Online and Dungeons and Dragons Online, have done so in style.
The “Important Announcement”
A rather ominous tweet by @lotro, entitled “An Important Announcement from Standing Stone Games LLC” went out while the servers were down:
Gut-wrenching? Only temporarily!
All Content Free Until End of April 2020!
What SSG have done is a fab response:
- All quests, instances, and skirmishes, including those in expansion packs, are open to everyone through April 30: yes, that means you can play expansions you have not paid for completely free for this time period!
- The Curator will be returning starting March 26 through April 30: Visit Bree Boar Fountain, for example for new limited-time items.
- There will be a 10% Virtue XP boost starting on March 26 through April 6
- The Baggins’ Birthday event will be available March 26 through April 6. (This usually takes place in September)
Exhale, Explore, Enjoy
So go forth adventurers of Middle-Earth and enjoy everything in LOTRO. Don’t forget to thank them for it too!
All my content will always be freely available. However, if you'd like to support myself and my family, please consider buying us a virtual coffee. Either way, thank you for visiting, I appreciate it!
