Pretend steeds are great, especially in built-up areas. The Winter Hobby-deer is exactly the same premise as a Hobby-horse. If it were my way, Hobby-horses (one of the Curator's Mounts) and Hobby-deers would be the only mounts available inside Winter-home!
How Do You Get the Hobby-Deer?
The Hobby-deer can only be obtained from 
Gold Hobbit Presents, which is a VIP perk. Without paying Mithril Coins 
, you only get one shot/week that the festival is on.
It may be worth delaying your next present until exactly the first day of Yule Festival. Or work backwards from the last day of Yule to see which gives you the most gifts. It's the season for receiving giving, after all!
