The illumination set is based on a wine red, or dark salmon colour - depending on the light that shines on it! The Jacket of Illumination features a lot of this material, save for the trousers which are creme or beige.
Long Sleeves
The jacket (or, arguably, robe) part of it has a two-part sleeve design. And I'm so glad that LOTRO haven't reused some of their lower-arm textures here. Instead, the darker swirls feature on both portions.
Stylish Robe/Shirt
The upper body is like a shirt, which is tied together using crossed strings. And the remainder of the darker material tapers to a point around the ankles, which gives it a sense of style.
Shoulder Cosmetic Included
What makes the Jacket of Illumination really interesting is that the jacket includes a form of shoulder cosmetic already. This is in a pale brown to match the broad waistline "belt". Having these in place, you could choose to add the Shoulder Guards of Illumination, or something else entirely (e.g. Ascot Scarf, Snow-Strider's Mantle).
Or nothing, and it would still feel "complete".
How Well Does It Dye?
Very well! Well, let me qualify that statement - the jacket dyes exceedingly well. The trousers are left unchanged - at least as far as I can tel. Here it is on a female race of man (and/or Beorning), but dyed Sea Blue:
